Dear Dawson Students,

My name is Anthony Williams and I am currently running for the position of Chairperson of the Dawson Student Union. This year was definitely a huge learning experience. I made both mistakes and huge strides in the Dawson Student Union last year. Starting from the rocky foundation of our predecessor, we took the union and completely rebranded the organization,
internally and aesthetically, continuously trying to push outreach and give back to the community.

We set out with the goal of transparency. Transparency in making sure your voices were heard so that you as students can trust in your union again. I believe we only got a chance to touch the surface. This was the first time in years, the union was a pillar in the community. Hosting several events (Frosh Week, Aids Awareness, FlashBack Friday), providing quality services such as the Hive and the student-run newspaper The Plant, training students, DSU staff and club executives with workshops (consent, peer counselling and trans101), setting in place policies that were beneficial to the student body both immediately and long term such as (the safer space policy).

Dawson College has always had a place in my heart. This institution has given me so much and I want to do nothing more than to give back to my community. This has been a learning curve and I have confidence in the F.U.C.S. party. The opportunity to work with these individuals would be a dream. Together we are united and ready to make the necessary changes of the union.
