Honoured to have had the opportunity to present at the NSCA Conference on a topic I’m passionate about: “Speed Beyond the Stopwatch: A Systems-Based Approach to Sprint Performance.”
Speed is often viewed through the lens of a stopwatch, but true performance is much more complex. During the presentation, I discussed a framework that examines sprint performance through three key branches:
🔵 Technical – How athletes organize and express movement
🟢 Physical – Whether they possess the strength, power, and tissue capacity to support performance
🔴 Stimulus – The sprinting exposures required to drive adaptation
A big thank you to Alena () for inviting me to speak and to everyone who attended, asked questions, and shared ideas. Some of the best learning happens through conversations with coaches and practitioners who are all striving to improve athlete performance.
