Helping karate athletes become World Champions. Kara, meaning "empty," and te, meaning "hand;" thus, karate means empty hand.

SKIF Canada began it’s roots in Belleville, Ontario, Canada in 1969 under the guidance of Hanshi Kenzo Dozono. We now have dojos all across Canada with the most knowledgeable Sensei's to teach all ages the greatness of karate-do. Adding the suffix -do, meaning "way," "The way of the empty hand." We learn defend and attack using only our bodies, no weapons. We have created National, International

and World Champions within all of our dojos. Proud past, strong future. SKIF Karate Canada is an independent non-profit organization in Canada.

This image depicts a moment in time capturing the life span of Hirokazu Kanazawa (1931–2019), a renowned Japanese karate master. Subject: Hirokazu Kanazawa, a pioneer in spreading Shotokan Karate internationally and the founder of the Shotokan Karate-do International Federation (SKIF). 1950 Image: Shows Kanazawa as a young man, early in his training, likely around the time he entered Takushoku University and began training under Gichin Funakoshi. 2019 Image: Shows Kanazawa in his final year of life, having dedicated nearly seven decades to the art of karate. Legacy: He was known for his technical prowess, specifically his mastery of kata and kumite, and was awarded the 10th dan rank.
