The famous neuroscientist Antonio Damasio once wrote:

"We are not thinking machines that feel; we are feeling machines that think."

Yet, we so often try to force our spiritual practices to be purely intellectual!

Every book you own is the end result of a 2,000-year-old relay race.

Think about Marcus Aurelius. 1,800 years ago, he sat in a tent on the edge of a crumbling empire and wrote a message—not for an audience, but to save his own soul.

He wrote: “Begin—and begin again.”

He never intended for us to see it. But because a scribe, a monk, or a librarian once whispered, “This is worth carrying,” it survived the dark to reach us today.

In our fast-paced digital world, we often forget that we aren’t just "content consumers." We are the next link in the chain. We are the stewards of the wisdom that reached us.

I’ve shared a deeper reflection on this "Macro-Gratitude" over on Medium today. I’d love to hear your thoughts on the ideas you are currently carrying forward.

Imagine a man sitting in a tent on the edge of a crumbling empire. Outside, the wind scrapes across the Danube frontier. The world is loud…

Before the world begins asking things from you, there is a quiet moment in the morning.

You wake up.
The room is still.
The day has not fully formed yet.

In that small space, something important is possible.

Morning is not just the start of a schedule. It is a doorway into the day.

In this new article, I share a simple practice I use every morning along with three ways you can enter the day grounded, calm, and clear.

You may find that the way you begin the morning quietly changes everything that follows.

Question for you:
What is one small thing that helps you start your morning well?

A quick reflection for this morning.

Before messages arrive, before the news begins, before the world starts asking things of you, there is a small, quiet moment.

That moment can shape the entire day.

I wrote a short piece about three simple ways to enter the morning grounded and how a tiny morning practice can slowly change how you experience your days.

I had a bird chirping at me this morning. He sat on a hydro line and looked straight at me as I sat at my breakfast table. I know he still had half a platano in the feeder, so it wasn't because he didn't have any food. But to appease him, I got up, went outside, and checked. All good, still some food in the feeder. The fact that I got up and checked seemed to reassure him, and he flew off to attend to some other chores. I'll call this how I appeased a bird today. Human or insanity creeping in? What do you think?

This morning, I noticed a dog lying in the sun.

A few days ago, I noticed a dog lying on my neighbor's lawn. I wasn’t trying to write anything. I was just paying attention.

A short, quiet reflection came out of it — about stillness, noticing, and what happens when we stop turning life into a problem to solve.

It’s called The Dog on the Lawn, and I’d love to share it with you.

Why Forgiveness Feels Hard

Forgiveness is often spoken about as if it’s a simple decision.
But if that were true… why does it feel so hard for so many of us?

I just wrote a piece exploring what really gets in the way of forgiveness — not from a place of pressure or “shoulds,” but with compassion for the emotional reality underneath it all.

This isn’t about forcing forgiveness.
It’s about understanding why it feels complicated in the first place.

💬 If this is something you’re working with right now, comment “forgiveness” below and I’ll share the article with you.

Or simply share what part of forgiveness feels hardest for you — sometimes naming it is the first gentle step.
