Kachō Fūgetsu Ryū —
花鳥風月流

If you saw it written as a ryuha name, it is not a classical koryu in the registry, it is a philosophy taken as a school name. And it is a beautiful one to take.
The meaning
Kachō Fūgetsu is a yojijukugo, a four character idiom:

Kachō Fūgetsu is comprised of the kanji for flower (ka), bird (cho), wind (fu) and moon (getsu) and is collectively referred to as the 'beauties of nature.'

It is a six century old Japanese philosophy, directly translates to 'Flower, Bird, Wind, Moon' whilst also encapsulating the continuous self discovery through the appreciation of the natural world.

It is not about pretty scenery. It means learning about yourself by learning to truly see nature, not as background, but as teacher

We are excited to announce an upcoming outdoor training session scheduled for August 14th to 16th, 2026. The session will focus on basic martial arts techniques and will take place in a variety of unique outdoor settings, including our outdoor training platform, under waterfalls, and on the beach.

These diverse environments will provide a challenging and dynamic backdrop for our training, allowing us to adapt and apply our skills in different contexts. Students are asked to bring two sets of uniforms, as well as any necessary training equipment.

We're looking forward to a productive and enjoyable training session with you.
