For years, I tried and failed to overcome habits and make lasting changes (still working). I thought willpower was the answer. If I just worked harder, pushed longer, or wanted it more, then surely it would work out for me. And for a time, it did—until it didn’t.
I discovered the truth the hard way: willpower only works when conditions are favorable. If I felt good, I performed well. But when life got hard, I struggled and fell back.
Then Jesus came along. He showed me that the true battle is not about willpower, but about the renewal of the mind.
“Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.” (Romans 12:2)
Renewal doesn’t happen overnight. It is a slow, daily transformation that begins with surrender.
“If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me.” (Luke 9:23)
It’s not about my desires or strength, but His will and His power working in me.
That’s when I began to understand: I win my battles in my mind, not through sheer will, but through Christ in me.
“We destroy arguments and every lofty opinion raised against the knowledge of God, and take every thought captive to obey Christ.” (2 Corinthians 10:5)
So let me ask you: what needs to change in your life? It starts with renewing your mind.
And here’s the truth: God doesn’t transform us by giving us external things to hold on to. He works from the inside out.
“I will give you a new heart, and a new spirit I will put within you.” (Ezekiel 36:26)
As your mind is renewed, you begin to see your desires change. What once seemed so important fades, because the One who is transforming you
“is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us.” (Ephesians 3:20)
You can start today, your transformation can now, today if you chose to give your life to Jesus.
Start where you are. Use what you have. What you have is ENOUGH- JESUS
