🏒🔴⚫ FORWARD PROGRESS ⚫🔴🏒

Championship teams aren't built overnight.

They're built through adversity. They're built through hard work. They're built by establishing a culture and a standard that players are willing to commit to.

That's exactly what the High Prairie Regals accomplished last season.

After starting the year 5-5, our group showed that we could compete with anyone in the NPHL. Injuries tested our depth throughout the season, but our players never stopped battling. Every night, the effort was there. Every night, the commitment was there. Every night, the Regals represented High Prairie with pride.

📈 The numbers show some of the progress:

🚨 Our power play clicked at an impressive 24.8% finishing just 3% behind the top power play in the league.

🚨 Cole Isaac led the way with 16 points in 15 games, including 10 goals, 2 shorthanded goals, and 2 game-winning goals.

🔥 Devon Quartly finished with 14 points in 13 games from the blue line, proving to be one of the league's most dangerous offensive defensemen.

⚡ Larry Yellowknee averaged over a point per game with 11 points in 10 games.

🏒 Mikal Chalifoux and Robert Lemay each finished among the team's scoring leaders with 11 and 10 points, providing leadership and consistency throughout the year.

💪 Brandon McNabb added 9 points while playing key minutes in all situations.

🚨 Steven Pratt made an immediate impact with 8 points in just 6 games.

⚡ Jonathan Belyan contributed 8 points and added a game-winning goal.

🥅 Keygon Okemow earned 4 of the club's victories and gave the team a chance to win every night he stepped between the pipes.

But some of our biggest accomplishments can't be measured on a scoresheet.

✔️ We developed depth throughout the lineup.

✔️ We received contributions from veterans, young players, and everyone in between.

✔️ We established accountability and commitment within our dressing room.

✔️ We proved we can skate with every team in this league.

✔️ We built a culture that players are proud to be a part of.

Most importantly, we showed what it means to wear the Regals logo.

To our players, coaches, volunteers, sponsors, and fans thank you for being part of the journey. Your support continues to push this organization forward and helps build something special for our community.

The foundation has been laid.

The standard has been raised.

And our expectations for next season have never been higher.

🔴⚫ We don't quit. We don't back down. We keep building. ⚫🔴

Local hockey teams going through their off-season work and having an eye on next season.

The High Prairie Regals were one of the most improved teams in the NPHL this past season thanks to the addition of some younger and talented players and Team President and GM Jerry Kruger says they are looking to continue building on that.

“Our guys aren’t getting any younger, we’ve got to recruit them younger guys in keep those young legs flowing. Those old boys, they do their best, but it’s pretty tough to keep up to them young guys. We’re really hoping to get more and we will focus on local always. We’re not a big import team, we don’t have the funds for that nor do we want to be that team. We want to be locally based with local players.”

The leading scorer on the Regals last season was Cole Isaac who also won the league’s rookie of the year award.

Off the ice, Kruger says they’re looking have more volunteer support to help increase their presence in the community.

“We’ve seen a huge change in the last year. We’re really hoping this year that we can get even more and really create that buzz. We’re really hoping that we can bring back that old school ideology of the way the Regals used to be. The Regals were an amazing hockey club for 30 years and it was all based on their volunteers.”

The team returned to playing in the league in 2024 after a five year absence.

The High Prairie Regals would like to send a huge congratulations to Nathan Smith on being named Head Coach of the Slave Lake Wolves!

Nathan has been a big part of our organization over the past two seasons, and we can’t thank him enough for everything he has committed to our team, our players, and our culture. His passion for the game, leadership, and dedication never went unnoticed, and we know he’ll bring that same energy and commitment to the Wolves organization.

Opportunities like this are well deserved, and we are proud to see one of our own take the next step behind the bench.

From everyone in the Regals organization Thank you for everything, Nathan, and congratulations on this exciting new opportunity. We wish you nothing but success moving forward!
