Woodwind South Riding School At Woodwind South we are happy to teach riders and horses from the basics through to the upper levels of competition. Learn to ride at Woodwind South!

We embody the qualities of the Canadian Pony Club and are approved members of Ontario Equestrian Facilities. Add horseback riding to your child's after school activities or your family's weekend leisure time! We provide lesson packages for all levels and ages, six and up, with well schooled horses and quality instruction. Well established summer camp programs are offered as enhancement to our curr

ent riders education and for new riders experiencing horses for the first time. Our riders have the opportunity to compete in house league horse shows and join the Centaurus Pony Club which is hosted and supported by Woodwind South. We have a beautiful stable and indoor school, warm luxurious viewing lounge with kitchen, heated tack room and full washroom facilities available for all our riders and families. we are very accessible from Barrie and Orillia. 2 of 3 of our Emergency Dismount/Falling Safety Seminars have been completed so far and we are so proud of how well our students are taking to it and really putting in the effort to learn how to keep themselves as safe as possible.

Our instructor, Abby, grew up doing Martial Arts and is passing on her expertise of break-falls and shoulder-to-hip rolls to our students while discussing importance of technique to keep our bodies as safe as possible when falls happen, in addition to drilling emergency dismount procedure at the halt, walk, and trot.

Thank you to Domino and Spock for being our very helpful and willing schoolies for the students to practice with! We truly have the very best ponies 😇

‼️Emergency Dismount/Falling Safety Seminars!‼️

As equestrians, falling off is bound to happen. Learning how to fall as safely as possible is an essential skill.

For the next 3 Saturdays at 2:30pm (May 9, May 16, May 23) instructor Abby will be hosting seminars where students will learn how to break fall in all directions, how to roll to safety, how to protect your head and limbs, and practice emergency dismount procedure both ba****ck and with a saddle on our superstar school ponies.

Maximum 6 students per seminar. The signup sheet is posted at the barn on the bulletin board in the tack room, but you can also message here to reserve a slot. This seminar fee is $70.00 including tax.
