On June 1, 2025, 'Bike for Mike' kicked off Bike month in Hamilton. It's the 15th annual event and a powerful celebration to remember Mike. This day is inspired by his wish: that Hamilton become a safer, more welcoming place for everyone to ride a bike where they live, work, and play – any time, any day of the year.
I very much look forward to this event, and this year I captured video during my ride on the "50km Classic Route" and at Collective Arts Brewing, which served as event headquarters. Watch the video to learn more about the event. Here are a few words about it:
Today, Mike's wish has become a city-wide mission. 'Bike for Mike' is more than a ride – it's a community-led effort to empower the next generation to move freely and safely through their neighbourhoods, beginning with the daily trip to school. We believe that every child deserves the opportunity to walk or cycle to and from school – and your participation helps make that a reality.
