Cheer Canada is deeply saddened by the passing of founding member Patricia “Patti” McNeill on June 7, 2026, at the age of 53.
For over 30 years, Patti’s dedication and leadership have helped shape our sport in Manitoba and across the country as a past national board member. As Vice President of Cheer Manitoba, Patti played a crucial role in bringing together the province’s two governing bodies. She worked closely with the International Cheer Union to help Manitoba establish its bid process for teams aiming to compete at Worlds in Florida and supported the growth of scholastic cheer throughout the province. Patti brought a wealth of knowledge, determination, and a genuine commitment to creating opportunities for athletes, coaches, and teams.
We will remember Patti’s wonderful sense of humour, her warmth, and the care she showed to the people around her. She loved food and cooking, but she also had a special way of nourishing hearts—through connection, laughter, kindness, and by making people feel included. To Patti, everyone was family. Her leadership, generosity, and love for the cheer community will forever be part of the foundation she helped build.
We extend our sincere condolences to Patti’s family, friends, and the cheer community. She will be greatly missed and fondly remembered for everything she contributed to our sport.
