The sailing and boating season is winding down here in Nova Scotia and that means it's time to start thinking of our Annual Awards!
So many great volunteers, programs, and athlete performances in 2026.
Nominations are now open for the Sail NS Awards.
Nominations will close on Wednesday, September 30.

Nominations will be accepted up until 11:59 pm September 30th. Nominations are for activities between October 1, 2025 to September 30, 2026. Awards to be presented October 31, at the Sail NS Conference and at our Celebration of Fundraising & Excellence set for November 20, 2026.

Congratulations to Team Colmonell representing the Royal Nova Scotia Yacht Squadron for capturing the Polaris Block Match Racing Trophy from the defender club Bedford Basin Yacht Club.
The Polaris Cup has not been contested in more than 25 years and kudos to BBYC and all clubs for re-establishing the competition.
Colmonell went undefeated in the 4-race round robin and won the final 2-1.
BBYC finished 2nd and Dartmouth Yacht Club in 3rd place.
The RNSYS winning crew consisted of Scott Christie, Spencer Dalzell, Finlay Macaulay, Evan Petley-Jones, Peter Wickwire, Henry Simms, & Ben Maloney.

Thank you Dartmouth Yacht Club for the invitation to the Convoy Cup Commemorative Sail Past on the HMCS Sackville this morning. More than 30 boats in perfect weather!

The 2026 Canadian Sailing Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony will be held Sunday, October 4th in Halifax at the Maritime Museum of the Atlantic and several Nova Scotians will be inducted!

The Hall will formally recognize sailors from local Paralympic sailors Paul Tingley, Scott Lutes and Logan Fitzpatrick, to historic legends in Angus Walters, James Roue and the worlds’s first circumnavigator, Joshua Slocum.

We will also celebrate Olympic Finn sailors Hank Lammens and Lawrence Lemieux, and Sport Builders; photographer Sharon Green, artist Christopher Pratt, sailing pioneer Casey Baldwin and yacht designer Mark Ellis.

This is the 6th series of inductions into the Hall of Fame and the first to be held in Halifax. For that reason, there is an emphasis on East Coast representation with seven of our twelve inductees having Maritime roots.

What a fun week it’s been as our Mobile Sailing School sponsored by North44 Yachts and the weCANfoil program visited Africville Museum.
Thank you Armdale Yacht Club for hosting the sailors Thursday evening and introducing them to Bluenose and Soling sailing.
