It’s officially been one month since our first-ever skijoring event in Golden, BC — so why did we do it?
Why did a small group of people put in countless hours to bring Spurs & Skis to life?
Yes, we hope the event can grow into a fundraiser that helps bring the Golden Community Rodeo back one day. But that wasn’t the only thing driving us.
The truth is — we simply wanted to do it. We saw an opportunity to create something that felt like a perfect fit for Golden. An event that brought together our western roots and mountain culture, and gave people a reason to come together in the middle of winter.
Seeing the community show up the way it did — competitors, volunteers, spectators, and even those watching from the hillside — reminded us why events like this matter.
The Golden Light Horse Club is inspired to keep building on that momentum and continue creating opportunities for the community to gather, celebrate, and support one another.
We hoped Spurs & Skis would be something special for Golden… and we’re really glad we went for it 🐴❄️⛷️
