The Cost of Being the Strong One

You've spent your whole life being the strong one.
The capable one.
The dependable one.
The woman everyone turns to.
And it worked.
It helped you build a successful business.
It helped you achieve results.
It helped you survive.
What if the very thing that got you here is now limiting where you can go next?
Many high-capacity women have built success through:
• overworking
• proving
• perfectionism
• carrying everything themselves
• never asking for help
The problem is those patterns eventually become a ceiling.
Because expansion requires something different.
It requires trust.
Support.
Receiving.
Boundaries.
And the willingness to stop carrying the world on your shoulders.
The next level isn't about doing more.
It's about becoming different.

My coaching is not for everyone.
It's not for women looking for someone to rescue them.
It's not for women who want to blame their circumstances, their industry, their team, their family or the economy.
It's not for women who want another temporary confidence boost.
My best clients believe something different.
They believe: "I am responsible for creating my current results."
And because they believe that, they also know they can create different results.
That's where real power lives.
Not in blame.
Not in excuses.
Not in waiting.
In ownership.
If you're willing to take responsibility for your growth, your leadership and your next level, you'll get extraordinary value from this work.
If not, that's okay too.
But this probably isn't your path.

You Already Know What To Do

One of the biggest lies successful women tell themselves is:
"I just need a better strategy."

What if strategy isn't the problem?

What if you've already invested in the courses, the books, the masterminds, the coaching and the training?

What if you already know what to do?
The women I work with aren't lacking information.
They're often brilliant.
Experienced.
Successful.
Capable.

Yet they still find themselves:
• overthinking decisions
• delaying action
• shrinking when visibility increases
• sabotaging momentum when things start working

The issue isn't knowledge.

The issue is becoming the woman who can consistently hold the success she says she wants.

If you're still looking for more information, I'm probably not your coach.

If you're ready to uncover what's stopping you from implementing what you already know, we should talk.

You may believe you need a better strategy.

More marketing.
More visibility.
More consistency.
More confidence.

What I've observed over the years is that you probably already know what to do.

The challenge isn't a lack of knowledge.

The challenge is that growth often requires you to become someone you've never been before.

More visible.
More successful.
More confident.
More willing to be seen.

As you begin to expand, old patterns can get activated.

Fear of judgment.
Fear of rejection.
Fear of getting it wrong.
Fear of being too much.

The result?

You overthink.
You procrastinate.
You overwork.
You play small.
You hold yourself back.

From the outside, it can look like a business problem.

Underneath, it's often a safety problem.

Part of you wants the next level.

Part of you doesn't yet feel safe there.

When you understand that, you stop asking:

"What's wrong with me?"

And start asking:

"What part of me is trying to protect me?"

That question changes everything.

As I worked on this piece, I found myself thinking about how often we rush toward the finished result.

The completed painting.

The finished project.

The next goal.

The next level.

Yet so much of life happens in the layers.

The brushstrokes no one notices.

The mistakes that become part of the design.

The moments when we aren't sure where the piece is going but continue anyway.

Art reminds me that growth is often the same.

We don't always need to know exactly how everything will unfold.

Sometimes we simply need to trust the next brushstroke.

What's something in your life right now that requires a little more trust and a little less certainty?

The phrase I hear most often from successful women isn't:

"I need more strategy."

It's some variation of:

"I know I'm capable of more."

That's a very different problem.

Most of the women I work with already know what to do.

They've taken the courses.

Read the books.

Invested in themselves.

Yet they still find themselves hesitating when it's time to become more visible, raise their prices, share their ideas, or step into a bigger level of leadership.

The challenge often isn't knowledge.

It's what happens internally when growth, visibility, and expansion begin to feel uncomfortable.

I'd love to hear your thoughts.

Lately I've been reflecting on something I see over and over again.

Women who have achieved so much in their lives and businesses, yet still find themselves holding back in ways they don't fully understand.

It's subtle.

Sometimes it looks like procrastination.

Sometimes perfectionism.

Sometimes waiting for the "right time."

Sometimes simply staying quieter than they were meant to be.

I'm curious what pattern are you repeating?

Last summer, I kept noticing these beautiful blue flowers growing wild along the roadsides here in Ontario.

Every time I passed them, I thought the same thing:

“They’re gorgeous. I want to paint them.”

When I finally sat down to create this piece, something else showed up too.

The voices.

You probably know the ones I mean.

The old thoughts.
The doubts.
The internal commentary that says:

“You don’t know what you’re doing.”
“Who do you think you are to create art?”
“What if people judge it?”

I’m familiar with those voices because they don’t just appear when we create art.

They show up in business too.

They show up when:
• you want to raise your prices
• launch something new
• speak more openly online
• share your opinion
• market yourself consistently
• become more visible
• step into a bigger version of yourself

A lot of people think confidence comes first.

Confidence almost always comes after action. Never before.

What I’ve learned is this:

Those negative voices are often trying to protect us from criticism, rejection, or failure.

If we let them lead, they also protect us from growth.

So I painted anyway.

It turns out what I thought were cornflowers are actually chicory — those wild blue flowers that grow naturally along Ontario roadsides every summer.

Now, every time I see the first pop of chicory blooming, I’ll be reminded of this painting… and of the moment I chose not to let fear make the decision for me.

Business growth often looks exactly like this.

So, my advice to you is to be willing to keep creating anyway.
