🏁 Fire X 30th Annugas Roy Ross Memorial Race – What a Night!
The 30th running of the Roy Ross Memorial Race is now part of history.
For a while, it looked like Mother Nature was going to win. Rain forced us to adapt throughout the evening, but racers, crews, officials, sponsors, and fans refused to let 30 years of tradition come to an end without crowning a champion. Together, we got the show in, and another memorable chapter was written in the history of the Roy Ross Memorial.
🏆 Congratulations to our 2026 Roy Ross Memorial Champion – Colby McTavish ( #7)!
With this victory, Colby earns his second Roy Ross Memorial Championship, adding yet another milestone to the incredible racing legacy of the McTavish family and their long-standing place in IMCA Canada history.
Unfortunately, the weather forced the cancellation of the second heat race, shortened the Silverstar Oilfield Transportation Silverstar Challenge from its scheduled 47 laps to 20 laps, and brought the Fire X 30th Annugas Roy Ross Memorial Race to an official conclusion on Lap 38 of the scheduled 47 laps. We would have loved to see all 47 laps completed, but sometimes Mother Nature has the final say. The race was official, the champions were crowned, and the tradition continues.

Thirty years ago, the Roy Ross Memorial Race was created to honour my father, Roy Ross. Today, it has grown into one of Canada's longest-running memorial open wheel modified races. Watching another generation of drivers battle for one of the sport's most respected victories is something our family never takes for granted.
To every driver who unloaded a race car, every crew member who turned a wrench, every official, volunteer, sponsor, and every fan who braved the weather—you are the reason this event continues to thrive after three decades.
A special thank you to Ron and Loretta Thiering and the entire Edmonton International Raceway family for working tirelessly through the changing weather to give us the very best event possible.
A special thank you as well to Josh Muise and Bernie Thomas for all of their hard work throughout the evening in the pits—presenting hats and trophies, conducting post-race interviews, and helping capture the memories of this year's event. Those racer interviews will be uploaded soon, so keep an eye on our page—you won't want to miss hearing directly from the competitors!
Congratulations once again to Colby McTavish, the 2026 Fire X 30th Annugas Roy Ross Memorial Race Champion!
Here's to another unforgettable year—and we'll see everyone in 2027 for the 31st Roy Ross Memorial Race! 🏁
