Dear friends
With regret, the Guiding Hands Recreation Society will not be offering it’s WISE youth programs for 2019.
As many of you know 2018 was the final year we were able offer the Tipi Camp programs at Cortiana Bay. Although we have explored several new locations to offer this years programs, we have determined that taking one year off is our best course of action.
During this time the Guiding Hands Recreation Society will continue to engage in organizational and program development. We will be diving deep into a new generation of youth programs based on the WISE philosophy.
We will also continue to work with private land owners, conservation groups as well as park and ministry staff to identify one or more locations for a base camp. We will also continue to work with our local partners to support youth activities this year in the community.
More than ever there is a need to create opportunities for all humans to connect with nature and themselves and each other. Thanks to our solid organizational structure, good standing with granting bodies and community partnerships, The Guiding Hands Recreation Society is well positioned to develop a new summer camp experience to ensure youth and adults alike have opportunities to develop confidence, physical stamina and awareness of our place in the wilderness, the universe and on the planet.
The Guiding Hands Recreation Society will be working hard though this year and will announce it’s 2020 plans on our website, facebook and instagram this fall.
We would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to all the supporters of Tipi Camp over the years.
Please check the ‘Experience’ page on our website and listen to the Tipi Camp Tribute album with narration from Peter Duryea, campfire sing alongs and more. What an amazing journey it’s been. We have so many awesome memories of the Tipi Camp over the last 30 years.
We would love to hear stories of your Tipi Camp experience. Were you a participant in the WISE program over the years? Maybe a yoga group? Tell us about it.
Until then...
