Mount Washington Alpine Resort is Vancouver Island's Coastal Playground. www.mountwashington.ca

Mount Washington is home to one of the most spectacular coastal alpine settings in North America. With the Pacific Ocean as a backdrop on one side and scenic Strathcona Park bordering the other. In winter, Mount Washington receives a legendary 10.5 metres of annual snowfall. The resort is acknowledged as the home of Canada's deepest pile, however it's not all about the snow! In summer, the mountain and surrounding resort community transforms itself into a major destination for mountain bikers, hikers, and summer alpine enthusiasts.

Today, we are recognizing a legend who has been there from day 1. Yup that's right, in 1979 when the resort first opened its doors, snowcat groomer Dave had his first shift. 47 years later, he is still going strong, laying down that beautiful corduroy our guests love to carve on!

Yesterday we celebrated Dave's 70th birthday, gathered with his workmates. We also dug up a few old photos from his time here, including an image of machinery from 1982.

Here's to Dave "The Corduroy King", we appreciate your dedication and commitment to Mt Washington all these years... truly one of a kind!
