Clearwater Ski Hill

Clearwater Ski Hill The Clearwater Ski Hill is one of BC's few volunteer run ski hills, known as the FASTEST T IN THE WEST! The hill started as a tow rope operation in 1965.

The mandate of the club is to provide affordable skiing for everyone. Over the years, it grew to a cozy lodge and T-bar. All operations are based on volunteer participation with guidance from a board of directors. The operations of the hill are directed by a board of volunteers. Thanks to great community support and generous volunteers and business donations, the club continues to operate. While t

he snow is sometimes a little on the skinny side, there is no better place to be in winter than the Clearwater Ski Hill. We are a fun and happy place to be! While we would love to be open every day of the week, our volunteer capacity allows us to operate on the week-ends. We hope to grow our volunteer base to extend operating hours. The Ski Club lodge is available for rent for private and community functions. The Ski Club has also added in a FREE public disc golf course!

Workbee this Saturday, the 23rd at the Clearwater Ski Hill!

Our main priorities are bucking, chopping, and stacking firewood, along with brushing on the hill. We are especially looking for anyone with brush saws to come lend a hand as hill brushing is essential to us being able to open for skiing.

Start time is 9am, but feel free to show up anytime after that. Bring gloves, tools, safety gear, drinks, and work clothes. Many hands make light work and every bit of help makes a difference.

Location:
Clearwater Ski Hill
566 Dunn Lake Rd.

🛠️ Clearwater Ski Hill Volunteer Workbee 🛠️

📅 Saturday, April 18
🕘 Starting at 9:00 AM

Drop in anytime throughout the day, whether you can give an hour or stay all day, every bit of help makes a difference.

As we wrap up another ski season, we’re getting the hill and lodge ready for the months ahead, and we’d love a hand from our amazing community.

This workbee is all about not only closing out winter, but also helping us transition the lodge from ski hill mode to event venue mode for the upcoming season.

The Clearwater Ski Hill and Lodge is a volunteer-run, not for profit community space, and workbees like this play a huge role in helping keep it vibrant, welcoming, and affordable for everyone who uses and loves it.

There’s lots to do, both inside and out, and many hands make light work.

🧹 Jobs to Tackle
• General outdoor clean-up around the lodge — raking, sweeping, and tidying
• Removing snow fencing from around the bunny hill
• Deep cleaning the lodge, including windows and other high-up areas
• Firewood prep — cutting, chopping, and stacking
• Ski run brushing and general hill maintenance
• Helping refresh the lodge as we shift it into event season readiness

☕ What to Bring
• Work gloves and weather-appropriate clothing
• Any helpful tools you’re comfortable bringing (rakes, chainsaws, pruning tools, ladders, etc.)
• A positive attitude and community spirit
Lunch and refreshments will be available in the lodge for our volunteers!

Your support helps keep the Clearwater Ski Hill running strong, while also helping us prepare the lodge for the weddings, events, and gatherings ahead. We’re so grateful for every helping hand and hope to see you there.

Thank you for supporting your ski hill and community space ❤️

🚨 UPDATE: You guys might be too excited about this…

Okay okay… we’ve got to come clean 😅
This one was an April Fools joke! Pretty incredible what AI can do nowadays!

Original message:
Big news from the hill 👀

We’re excited to unveil what our volunteers have been working on!

With increasingly variable winters, we’ve been exploring ways to make the ski hill more reliable and extend our season. So… we decided to borrow an idea from across the pond 🇬🇧 and begin installing dry slope mats on the hill.

Dry slope skiing has been around since the 1950s, originally developed in Europe to allow skiing without snow. These surfaces, typically made of durable plastic bristles or mesh, mimic the glide of snow and can be used year-round. They’ve been widely used in the UK and parts of Europe where natural snowfall is less consistent.

What does that mean for us?
- More consistent conditions, even in low-snow years
- Opportunities for earlier openings and longer seasons
- A new way to learn and practice right here in the North Thompson

This is very much a work in progress, and like everything at the hill, it’s being driven by an incredible group of volunteers putting in the time to try something new for our community.

Stay tuned as we continue to build this out… and let us know what you think 👇
