Proud teacher moment coming in ❀️πŸ₯°

I have to make a separate post for this since I'm genuinely so amazed by my student Sarah and her progress with me!! She started going to my classes consistently since August of last year, so we're at only 10 months of learning and already such amazing results πŸ‘

This video is from our recent PEI salsa group Moncton trip where she had the pleasure of dancing with , an amazing dancer living in Moncton, for the very first time! She absolutely killed it and was able to follow very complex moves, a lot of them new moves to us (kudos to his great leading), while still enjoying the music and adding her own style and personality ✨️

I couldn't be prouder of all her achievements and it warms my heart to see how much joy salsa and Cuban dance is bringing into her life ❀️

What makes this extra special is the fact that while she has tried learning salsa before across various locations and stages in her life where she couldn't really stick to it, now with me is when she finally started feeling comfortable and confident enough to make that commitment of going every week and start seeing results after some time 🫢

Ok now I'm gonna take a small second to shout out myself as well since I think this achievement also speaks for my teaching and my own journey as an instructor! In only a little over a year of me starting teaching for the very first time while still being new at salsa and Latin dance myself, in this time I have managed to get students hyped up for Latin dance that keep coming back every week, build a performance group that has been invited to various events already representing Latin dance in an authentic way that makes it justice and lastly expose more people on PEI to Latin culture and dance through my classes, events and performances 🀩

Thank you, Sarah, for putting your trust in me as your instructor for all this time, especially when I was still very new to teaching! I keep progressing as a teacher and dancer myself, and it's nice to have a community where we can all learn and grow together ❀️

Thank you so much to for this opportunity to perform at your Public Service Week BBQ and Cultural Diversity celebration! ❀️✨️

We had an amazing time performing and showcasing a bit of our Latin dance routines, in particular Cuban dance with our small Rueda de Casino and a Casino (Cuban Salsa) dance πŸ‡¨πŸ‡Ί

As our Latino community is growing here on the island, so is the salsa and Latin dance community over here, which includes people of all different kinds of backgrounds, ethnicities and nationalities, local islanders and people of several different countries! All coming together through our love for Latin dance & culture and contributing to the growth and visibility of Latin culture on PEI πŸ’ƒ

Thank you to all the public servants, government officials and community leaders for all the work you do and for your daily commitment to fostering a welcoming and culturally diverse community here on PEI! 🫢

Cuban Salsa Sunday recap from last night πŸ’ƒπŸ‡¨πŸ‡Ίβœ¨οΈ

Thank you so much to all my students who came out yesterday!! Nice work πŸ’ͺ I caught some students up on a few fundamentals and then got us all to do a small sequence combining those with some more complex figures ✨️

I didn't realize until later that I didn't get a good angle for the videos, so half of the students aren't actually visible on these - sorry 😬 I'll do better next time!

What we did:
βœ…οΈ Intermediate Cuban Salsa (Casino)
βœ…οΈ Social dancing/a little intro to linear salsa (LA style) and Bachata πŸ’ƒβœ¨οΈ (got Bachata on video finally even with only a few students visible, I consider this a win haha)
βœ…οΈ Practice for upcoming performances (not on video)
