⚠️ 🚨 **ALERT: Watch Out for Minor Hockey Tournament Scams!** 🏒🚫

Suspicious tournament invitations are currently targeting minor hockey teams and associations. These fraudulent messages often mimic official logos, emails, and registration forms very closely.

Before clicking links, submitting forms, or transferring registration payments, take these essential safety steps:

1️⃣ 𝗩𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗳𝘆 𝗗𝗶𝗿𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗹𝘆: Contact the host organization using contact details listed on their official website (do not use contact info provided in the suspicious email).

2️⃣ 𝗖𝗵𝗲𝗰𝗸 𝗦𝗮𝗻𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴: Confirm the tournament is listed as an officially sanctioned event on the HEO website.

3️⃣ 𝗜𝗻𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝗦𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿 𝗗𝗲𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗹𝘀: Double-check email addresses carefully—scammers often use domain names with subtle typos or variations.

4️⃣ 𝗪𝗮𝘁𝗰𝗵 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗥𝗲𝗱 𝗙𝗹𝗮𝗴𝘀: Be cautious of sudden pressure for immediate payment, wire transfer requests, or sudden changes to normal registration procedures.

5️⃣ 𝗥𝗲𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁 𝗦𝘂𝘀𝗽𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗼𝘂𝘀 𝗜𝗻𝘃𝗶𝘁𝗲𝘀: If you receive a questionable message, notify HEO immediately and do not engage with the sender until verified.

🏒Dear Players, Parents, Guardians, and Coaches,

This is an important reminder regarding participation in non-sanctioned hockey while registered with Hockey Eastern Ontario (HEO) and Hockey Canada.

Under HEO policy, players and coaches cannot participate in a non-sanctioned league after September 30 and continue participating in sanctioned minor hockey without eligibility consequences.

Key Policy Points:

• 🚫 𝗣𝗹𝗮𝘆𝗲𝗿𝘀: Anyone who participates in a non-sanctioned league after September 30 becomes ineligible to register with or affiliate to an HEO/Hockey Canada team for the remainder of the season (subject to applicable reinstatement provisions).

• 🚫 𝗖𝗼𝗮𝗰𝗵𝗲𝘀 & 𝗕𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗵 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝗳𝗳: Any bench staff who participate in a non-sanctioned league after September 30 cannot serve as bench staff with a Hockey Canada team for the remainder of the season.

• ⚠️ 𝗦𝗶𝗻𝗴𝗹𝗲 𝗚𝗮𝗺𝗲 𝗥𝘂𝗹𝗲: Participation in even one game—including exhibition, tournament, league, or playoff games—may trigger these eligibility restrictions.

We appreciate your cooperation and encourage all players, families, and coaches to ensure they fully understand these requirements before committing to another hockey program.

More details can be found on the Hockey Eastern Ontario Website.
