56 Killarney swimmers competed this past weekend at the Mavericks Madness Meet, delivering an outstanding performance across the board. 🏊🏻‍♀️🏊🏽‍♂️

The team posted an incredible 235 new personal best times and earned 39 podium finishes, bringing home 18 Gold, 12 Silver, and 9 Bronze medals.

Killarney was proudly represented by 28 swimmers in the 12 & Under age categories, competing against the best swimmers in Alberta at the Alberta Winter Festival ❄️🏊‍♂️. Our team delivered an outstanding performance, setting an incredible 120 personal best times, earning 10 🥇 gold, 11 🥈 silver, and 6 🥉 bronze medals, and finishing the meet as the 4th overall team 👏🔥.

A huge congratulations to Sophia Shpak, who broke all three 12 & Under Breaststroke Club Records, while also setting new Provincial Records in the 50m (33.76) and 100m Breaststroke (1:13.01) 🚀💥. An incredible achievement—great job, Sophia! 👏🥇

Sunday’s finals session kicked off with a special ceremony recognizing swimmers who achieved Youth Recognition Times 🎉:

Sunday evening also featured a special relay event, where the top eight 50m freestylers in each age category competed on Team Alberta Blue and Team Alberta Red 🔵🔴. Emily Piatek, Dorothy Dean, Sophia Shpak, and Mark Lawalall earned spots on the Alberta relay teams—well done! 🤝🏊‍♀️

Congratulations to all our swimmers on an exceptional weekend of racing! Next up is the Alberta Summer Festival in Grande Prairie, and it’s sure to be another fantastic weekend of fast swimming!

Design Our NEW Medal Lanyards and WIN!!

Swimmers who would like an opportunity to display their artistic talent can submit their design for the lanyard for the 2026 KSC LC invitational medals.

The dimensions are 1.5inches wide and 32 inches total length. Please keep it appropriate for all age levels. Please do not add dates. And remember our team colours are black, green and white! Please submit (in PDF format) by Feb 2, 2026 to: [email protected].

All submissions will be posted on the club social media for votes. And the final decision on the winner will be made by the Meet Management Committee. In addition to having their design on the LC lanyard, the winner will receive a $50 gift card to Team Aquatic Supplies.

We will be meeting at the parking lot of Bishop Carroll High School and heading out to surrounding neighbourhoods in groups including a driver (to run bottles back to the truck) and a team of collectors.

Killarney Swimmers closed out 2025 in impressive fashion at the Sandy Ferris Age Group Challenge, racing fast and rising to new challenges.

Across the meet, Killarney athletes recorded an outstanding 381 Best Times and completed 34 New Swims, showing strong progress and determination in every session.

The team spent plenty of time on the podium, earning 83 medals in total: 22 Gold, 29 Silver, and 32 Bronze. Killarney Swimmers also achieved three podium sweeps, dominating the 11 & Under Boys 50 Back, the 11–12 Girls 200 IM, and the 11–12 Girls 100 Fly.

Despite braving blizzard conditions, 22 Killarney swimmers delivered an outstanding performance at the Long Course Quali 2025. The team earned an incredible 43 top-three finishes — 19 Gold 🥇, 18 Silver 🥈, and 6 Bronze 🥉 — along with 33 Best Times, 1 Club Record, and 1 Provincial Record.
