Picked up the newest Zswing version of the DriveX 12 from our friends at Sunridge Badminton Centre and got it all strung up the same night with our standard setup (Aerobite @27/29lb)
Stringing
Fairly standard stringing experience; the single-pass grommets at the time are nicely staggered for easy stringing in those holes. Some grommets were not installed / pushed in all the way due to some grommet holes being tighter than others but that is a common issue with modern rackets
Grommets
Victor went with an all-white grommet setup this time. Since it share the same frame design as the standard DriveX 12, the thicker frame means they used longer grommets than usual. Generally not an issue as you can get white grommets in longer lengths as well. The main issue pops up when and if you have to replace the U-Shape grommets; these require u-shape grommets that are longer than standard ones. Will be contacting Victor to see if the longer grommets for the DriveX 12 are available.
Another minor observation is that top single pass grommets are shorter than the side ones. They are around 0.5mm too short. I suspect this is because Victor tends to use stock grommets sizes for their rackets and not custom lengths specific to each model like yonex does. It is a small details but it is worthwhile to mention as compared to something like the ArcSaber 11 Pro where all the grommets extend out around the same length all around the frame. Of course yonex does custom grommet sets for each and every model.
For whatever reason, Victor grommets seems to have a bad reputation along my clients; I get so many requests to swap out their grommets for another brand’s grommet on brand new rackets. For the record, I think they are fine and don’t recommend swapping out grommets on the DroveX 12 models until we can source out the longer u-shape grommets
