I certainly knew nothing about the significance of this photo taken on my daily early morning walk in 2020 a pandemic I prayed daily would end as I walked en route to .......you guessed it....my morning coffee. And here it is.....Canada....sits on the world stage for a variety of reasons. Winter Olympics....Yay Proud Go Canucks go! Convoys....Border Crossings I shall not comment. I have my own views...my own beliefs...other than to say I am a citizen of Canada. Where Freedom has been taken for granted by many and disregarded completely by some Where we all seem to be defining that word..."freedom" with our own bias our own beliefs as to what should or not be happening. I don't know what the outcomes of the borders, truckers and convoys will be but I, a Canadian stand and watch with the rest of the world. One thing I know....These past two years have been both astonishing and disheartening. Challenging. Requiring courage and tenacity. Let no one accept another persons view point as truth unless willing to accept the challenge of reviewing all sides of the argument, all the evidence and educate ones self on the issue as placed in front you. I remain always a citizen of this unique county we all call Canada. I remain amazed , astonished, dismayed at times, proud at times. I have felt over worked at times, isolated at other times, unheard often, misunderstood more often, and still there have been wonderful times , memorable times...opportunities for me that I have thoroughly embraced and enjoyed these past two years..... and still here I am....I stand a Canadian. And yes....I do love a great cup of coffee in the early morning hours when most of Calgary has yet to wake up. Lets heal this nation, lets seek understanding rather than only wanting others to understand our own position. Lets heal this nation by agreeing to disagree on some issues. Lets heal this nation by allowing for forgiveness as we often are in need of that same forgiveness. Lets choose to support one another regardless of political views. Lets dig deep and want better for the generations to come. Lets gather together and embrace our differences.....Let us choose to love one another........

We are living in a time where it’s so easy to feel closed in. Shut down. Isolated. It’s easy to toss the daily habits and stare into the abyss of social media scrolls Or Netflix or or or or. It’s also a time to seize opportunities to set goals if you so choose

2020 has been undoubtedly the most challenging year of my life. So easy to curl up into a ball when I am not working. So easy to want to scream and cry at the situation. That won’t solve me and my problems. It won’t get me anywhere. When we discover a new normal post Pandemic what will my life look like? Your life look like? I will still be a nurse. I will still have difficult days , challenging situations in both my workplace and my personal life. I will still choose to develop and grow .....will you? Determine what you want your future self to look like. Dream big. Decide to start and simply get going. Head in the direction of your future developing habits little by little day by day and I promise you that 365 days from now you will be an entirely different person
My daily walk completed. Yesterday was a challenging walk. Winter stormy weather. Today no storm yet colder temperatures.
See the excuse or be willing to experience the challenge and grow 2021 is coming It’s around the corner. Get ready get set ......let’s grow!

Sunday’s walk. Monday’s post. If you live in my city YYC, you will know yesterday was a challenge. One word. WIND. If you follow me at all you also know I’ve been working on a few things for myself FOCUS. COMMITMENT. PREPARING PLANNING. = DOING WHAT I PLAN (even when I don’t want to) Yesterday I clearly didn’t want to. It was windy. It was chilly. I had appropriate clothing. I was not under the weather. I had a choice. Simple. Do it or don’t do it. Based on previous experience I knew how great I would feel after my 90 minutes walking outside. I also knew how disappointed I would be if I didn’t go.

I felt great. I did it. Enjoyed staying indoors remainder of the day. Relaxing. Resting. Enjoying my chosen day of rest

If a picture is worth a thousand words what would this picture mean to you?

Assumptions matter. Assumptions don’t serve a purpose. Usually they muddy perceptions and create misunderstandings which lead to messy relationships. Life is challenging enough

On to the picture. Breakfast has been habitual for almost a decade. And part of that was Murphy. He ate his food. I ate mine and this was the yogurt I ate and he also had with his food. Every day.

Murphy went across that Rainbow Bridge in August. It’s time to have fond memories of early morning time with that old soul. Faithful companion and friend.
We miss him. I miss my protected precious mornings with him

Means so much to me. And likely nothing to anyone else. And that is just fine

Live your life. Pay attention to what is meaningful and wonderful and challenging to you. Be aware of those around you. Offer a listening ear. Show up for others. Don’t assume anything.

Seem unfair? He gets homemade cookies and I get what exactly?
If that’s your question when you see this change your thought. I had to and did long ago.
Food struggle is real and has been for most of my adult life. To the point I thought all I wanted was to crawl out of my own skin I was so desperate to not allow food to own me. To be thin

Today I choose to nourish my body the way my body requires nourishment. So that I can live big not be big. That I can bake cookies and banana bread and brownies and chocolate log and all the things for my family and most importantly for the single most i@portent person in my life, my husband , makes me 😊

Guess what else makes me happy?

That I can bake and clean up and enjoy the entire process and not eat one bite of any of it.

That my friends is FOOD FREEDOM Obsession free living. Food addict no more. Relationship ju**ie, people focused, loving life.

Cold snow & wind. I love the snow. I don’t like being cold and I don’t like the wind. So one out of three hit the mark for my emotional happiness
And neither the cold or wind were reason enough to not go for my walk
I made a decision long ago for myself. To walk daily no matter what. No matter the circumstance. My feelings have nothing to do with whether or not I will walk.
Make a plan
Tell yourself why you made the plan
Just go and execute the plan
Be proud of where you are and where you are going each and every time you choose to do what you planned to do

Snow & Cofee!!!!
A perfect morning walk for me

I’m reflecting. 2020.
YEAR of the NURSE.
I’m by profession both a Life Coach & Registered Nurse. The year has brought nothing I expected and everything I did not necessarily want nor ask for. But I have grown regardless. Made decision. Cast vision. Set goals some big some small. Challenges myself.

How are you challenged? Are you settling for what is and content in that or are you procrastinating, or maybe feeling like you are spinning out of control? How about believing nothing will change for your current situation? Is that really true? Maybe it is maybe it isn’t. Only you know the answer for yourself.

Decide how you want to be in this world and start showing up for yourself that way. Little by little. Baby steps each and every day will love you closer to your goals.
2020 is drawing to a close sooner than we expect. 2021 is drawing near. How would you like to show up and be next year?

Make a decision. Reach out for help if you need it. Get coached. Move forward. Get scared. Be willing. Just go ahead and do it

I’ve been quieter than normal this past month. I’ve made commitments that I hadn’t necessarily planned on and they were right for me and my family. I minimized so many things to increase in other areas and I’ve found contentment in some of those areas and I’m pressing in and doubling down for more in other areas
September 2020 is gone. One small challenge to myself is over and many more remain in progress.
It’s October. It’s Friday. It’s time to sit relax and enjoy a ☕️

Plan your days. Choose challenges that move you into an area of growth. Take little steps and move forward. Don’t expect habits to change in a heart beat. Purposeful actions overtime produce tremendous results.
Weight loss, exercise , less media, less whatever and more whatever .....you choose. You decide. Then write it out and simply begin. Practise your way into a new way or being.

I wouldn’t say walking in the dark is my favourite thing to do but walking is what I do. For physical health and to challenge my mind. Commitment. Plans. Show up for yourself. Who else is supposed to?
