As my wife and I kick off another awesome 2 week long road trip in our adventure van this weekend I can’t help but think about my motivation…

When I started my landscaping business in 1994, my motivation was beer money for the weekend and to keep parents from bugging me to go to university..

We had fun getting the job done but it wasn’t serious. I partied like a young business owner and my business never really took off because of it.

My ah-ha moment was when I showed up late one day, with last night’s party still all over my face…

I clearly didn’t look professional or fit to represent the brand we were trying to grow. That’s when the maintenance manager of my company and long time good friend of mine (Paul) looked me in my eyes and sent me home for day.

I was so embarrassed. After I got home I realized this sh*t is real and I had to treat it accordingly.

That was over two decades ago…

Since then, my team and I have studied our butts off.

Studying and fine tuning systems to turn our brand into a multimillion dollar business that employs over 40 people and provides an unparalleled landscaping experience for our clients.

Now what’s my motivation?

To travel with my wife and dog as I teach other business owners it’s possible.

It’s possible to run a business that doesn’t run you. It’s possible to have financial and personal freedom.
