It's time to wake up.
Racial injustices and brutality have been taking place since before the colonization of North America. From the genocide of indigenous peoples to this very day, white people have been held higher in terms of human rights than with any other ethnic group. With the evolution of technology and interconnectivity we're able to see a glimpse of the disgusting violation of the human rights of ethnic groups more often than ever before, and our generation just hasn't done enough to stand up with the oppressed.
I'm not one to typically write any extensive thoughts, opinions or comments on any form of social media (I tend to keep to a smaller circle when it comes to that), but I won't stay silent now.
I'll never understand what it feels like to be victimized and terrorised by the government in the country I live in, but I stand with those who do, in hopes that it will finally come to a stop in our lifetime.
The lines that divide us are taught and institutionalized. They've been getting progressivey more blurred over the past century since slavery was abolished, but it's time we wake up and realized they're still there, and this is very real.
If you're not taking an active part in protesting out of fear of personal safety or health, please educate yourself on a consistent basis on what you can still do to help. If you claim not to be a racist, but don't want to get involved in any way you're not an ally of the persecuted, or of mine. Not stepping up and using your privilege to help raise the volume of the voice of the oppressed is effectively taking the side of the oppressor.
People are getting killed, jailed, beaten and worse simply because they have more melanin in their skin, slightly different features, or a different culture than the caucasian majority. The concept of treating a human any differently for those reasons is honestly mind blowing to me. Those in power have clearly developed an extremely complicated system that is designed to elevate some and oppress others by a visual and cultural queue. It has to stop, but it won't change if you don't help.

Tomorrow, Wednesday June 3rd in Victoria Park, there will be a peaceful march in solidarity with the impacted families and communities that you can be a part of to stand up for your fellow human. We're going to march to show those in power, and the rest of the world that there are allies everywhere.
Please be aware of the dangers of contracting covid-19, and practice social distancing as well as wearing a mask, and bringing your own hand sanitizer for the peacful march.
I'll happily brave a pandemic to fight a worse one.
We're not just 'not racist', we're ANTI-RACIST. I'll see you there.
