My name is Nicholas and I started racing go karts four years ago and I have loved it ever since. At the beginning of the 2015 season, I moved up from four-stroke to Rotax junior. Going into the season I knew it was going to be my only year in the category as I would be moving up to the senior category in 2016. Keeping that in mind, I knew that there would be a lot to learn to allow myself to get u
p to speed quickly. It was a challenge, but it was very enjoyable as I improved every race. In the end, I finished second in both the Mosport and the Goodwood championships. I also competed in the ECKC where I finished on the podium at Mosport. At the Nationals, I qualified second and finished fifth which was a great boost of confidence for my next season in senior. Another aspect of racing that I really enjoy is the technical side. I am always trying to find different set up changes and techniques to help myself as well as others feel better on the track. One thing that I have been trying to do is help other drivers with their lines and techniques. Throughout the 2015 season I spent a lot of time giving advice to one of my former competitors who ended up winning multiple championships this year. I enjoyed helping him throughout the season as it helped to teach myself things about driving, kart set-up and even being mentally prepared and focused to produce a winning drive. The 2015 season was definitely my favourite racing season by far, and I am really looking forward to next year. As I am moving up to a more competitive class, it will be tough, but I will work hard and hopefully get some good experience to be able to achieve better results than I did this year.
