Rhythm today - I am still not losing any sleep over this one.

PH has come down a bit overall but still high. Higher on the under developed side with clear fluid, as expected.
Her milky side has been waxing all week which was why I wanted to start checking her closer. That side is now dripping on her legs. We may have to milk it and freeze if she keeps it up so we dont lose the colostrum.

Tailhead is still about the same, softer but not really as soft as it could be.
Foal does not look turned/dropped.

Maidens do weird things. 🤷‍♀️

Update on Rhythm - she still looks like nothing will happen imminently. ⏳️

Her tail head is softening but thats about it for foaling signs.

The milky side of her udder that had a lower PH on the weekend is now matching the higher PH of the less developed side with clear fluid.
We are keeping an eye on her incase this develops into mastitis.

Her behavioral patterns are normal.

We probably have some time yet, although her own mother had dropped her with zero udder or signs that labor was close so anything is possible.

We may just wake up to an extra baby one morning. 🤷‍♀️

I decided to check her less developed side for comparison and it is way behind the full side, fluid is much more clear and PH is high.

Physically she still doesnt look imminent to me, so we wait and see what she does. We may just come out and find a foal some morning. 😛

It is a rainy wet day here at the farm, if the weather keeps going like this we will be taking walls out to make a big stall for miss R to hang out in this week.

Our foals seem to bring rain with them this year. 🌧

I still dont believe our next foaling is imminent. Rhythm doesnt really look like a mare prepping to foal this week, however her milk tests tell a different story so I dont trust her physical indicators. 🤔

Who wants to play "When is she going to pop?" 😅

I am glad I did a sample check because by looking at her I would give this mare a few weeks yet before I worry too much about her foaling. Her udder is not really developed and she isn't as soft as I'd consider a concern.

But.... she has white, opaque, sticky fluid in there which would be lining her up for foaling this week. PH is still too high so I am not stressed about her foaling tonight.
Maidens are a bit weird and can do strange things which makes them tricky to predict.

Tomorrow she hits the 320 "safe date" that a fetus should reach in order to be considered fully formed.

I dont know what it is with this farm but all of my foals since being here have been on the earlier side of the spectrum.
All born in that first week after the 320 day mark, except for Topanga who foaled extra early at 312 days.

I guess I dont mind because every foal has been born strong and healthy, plus it means we can bump up the breeding dates.

It has been very busy lately on the farm and elsewhere. We had a little lull in our breeding season while we wait for mares to be ready. I don't mind some breaks in the season!

We've got two mares racing to ovulation right now who I am hoping can share a collection. 🤞

Miss Topanga is finally getting geared up for send off. She looks great so if everything flows as seamless as last year we can get the Cover Girl 2.0 edition in the oven for an earlier baby next spring. 💄💅

As we reflect on the direction we want to go with our program it is time to make some changes again, as happens when we desire continued improvement.

Rhythm will be coming available, mare only or we could do a package deal with her foal &/or a rebreed.
She should be ready to pop end of June/early July.

15.2hh bay unraced/sport bred Thoroughbred mare by Tango Event o/o the North Light mare, Imanuptowngirl.
She is a beautifully bred, large bodied mare who has a lot of potential both u/s and as a broodmare ♥️
Along with sport breeding I could also see her producing some nice stock type babies when bred to the right stallions.

This mare has some bumps from her previous home that we unfortunately dont have any history on but can disclose what we know of the blemishes.
She is sound, healthy and has really great feet.
Always has been barefoot.
She is quite easy keeping.
Utd on Healthcare - vaccines, teeth, feet etc. Fully health tested, results available.

Along with the general inspections we will be setting up for stallion licensing this year so it is a great chance to get your boys on the Westfalen books.

Westfalen covers not only full sized warmbloods but also sport ponies (full list of breeds that can be approved below) and purebred books for Halfinger and Knabstrupper.
