Barrie's Ribbons of Hope

Friendship, laughter, tears, sisterhood, community awareness and sharing...all some of the many reasons we join together in the boat.

Barrie's Ribbons of Hope is a Dragon Boat team comprised of Breast Cancer Survivors, our team raises public awareness and shows that there is life after Breast Cancer; we provide others with a strong message of hope, inspiration and encouragement.

The team got together Tuesday at Christmas Cheer - we had a great afternoon helping to pack food boxes for the 2200 families they will be helping this year

This year, the Ribbons collected enough warm and essential items to fill 10 shoeboxes for The Shoebox Project. This great organization helps to remind girls and women experiencing homelessness that they are valued.

On a bright winter day, we had the opportunity to present the Kelly Shires Breast Cancer Foundation with a cheque to support their incredible cause. We are so proud to be able to give back to our community and to the organizations that support us.

We were thrilled to once again present RVH with a donation. The RVH Cancer Centre has been a place of healing and hope for so many of us. We hope others who come after us on this journey can access the same care and attention we did.

We had a delightful luncheon to raise money for the team and it was a great success! We even had a special guest serenade us!

Yesterday members of our team got together for the Barrie/Orillia - Canadian Cancer Society CIBC Run for the Cure. Our teammate Shayna was chosen to speak at the opening ceremony and delivered a moving speech about her journey. Thank you, Shayna, for sharing your beautiful words with us.

Shayna also won a prize for the top all-women fundraising team in Barrie! Congrats!🎉

Thank you to everyone who came out to participate, support or volunteer yesterday.

As Shayna said in her speech, every step we take is a step forward to end this disease.

We wear pink to raise awareness and to honour everyone who has been, or is on, this difficult journey.
