Posted • “I run because it connects me to nature and I feel free. No music, no phone – just me and my soul connecting to nature.” Raman Singh’s description of how running makes him feel is one of the most beautiful we’ve read!
Raman came to love running in such a poetic way just three years ago, when he made the decision to get healthy and active. He decided to try running, bought a Garmin watch, and motivated himself to get out the door. At first, he struggled with the ups and down of weight loss, but in 2018, shortly after moving to Canada from India, he joined a 5k running clinic in Toronto and ran some of his first races. He loved the energy and community that he found in the clinic and at the races, and continues to find such joy in the new faces he sees out on the roads and trails everyday. “They smile and wave without knowing you – the reason is just running! That smile that you see early in the morning makes the rest of your day so wonderful.”
In 2018, the same year that he ran his very first race, Raman ran his first 21.1 km at the Scotiabank Toronto Waterfront Half-Marathon. He finished in a time of two hours and 50 minutes. This year, he worked with a coach and worked hard to better his time in the half. Just recently, Raman ran the lululemon SeaWheeze Virtual Half-Marathon in 1:58:50, finishing even faster than his 2:10 goal time!
2020 has been a year of motivation and breakthroughs for Raman, using quarantine time to increase his training and get stronger. Looking ahead, he has plans to increase his mileage; on January 14th, his 30th birthday, Raman will be running 30km in celebration! And after that, he plans to work with his coach to train for all 42.2 km of the marathon. You got this, Raman!
Thanks a lot for featuring ❤️❤️🙏🙏
