Tonight I had the privilege of attending the screening of Sideways at Venue Church—a powerful and emotional story about trauma, resilience, healing, and the importance of having conversations that many of us are afraid to have.

Mental health does not discriminate. It affects fathers, mothers, sons, daughters, friends, coworkers, business owners, athletes, and community leaders. Yet for so many, especially men, there is still a stigma around asking for help, showing vulnerability, or admitting that they’re struggling.

As I watched the film and listened to the conversations that followed, I was reminded why our upcoming NRG Fitness Hustle for Mental Health Father’s Day Run means so much to me.

As a father, business owner, coach, and community advocate, I know what it feels like to carry burdens in silence. I’ve experienced setbacks, criticism, self-doubt, and moments where I questioned my own worth. But I’ve also learned that healing begins when we stop pretending we’re okay and start talking about what we’re going through.

Our Father’s Day Run isn’t just about running 5K. It’s about creating awareness. It’s about breaking down barriers. It’s about reminding men that they are not alone. It’s about supporting mental health resources and helping families in our community through the Airdrie Food Bank.

Thank you to everyone involved in bringing Sideways to our community and creating a safe space for these important conversations. The more we talk about mental health, the more lives we can impact.

If you’re struggling, reach out. If someone you know is struggling, check in. A simple conversation can change a life.

💚 Join us on June 21st at East Lake Regional Park for the NRG Fitness Hustle for Mental Health Father’s Day Run.

Let’s run for awareness.
Let’s run for healing.
Let’s run for hope.
Let’s run together.

Growth Lives in the Struggle

Every single day, someone, somewhere, is fighting a battle you can’t see.

A battle with self-doubt.
A battle with fear.
A battle with loss.
A battle with their health, their finances, their relationships, or simply finding the strength to keep going.

The truth is, struggle is part of the human experience.

The question isn’t whether you will struggle.

The question is: Which struggle will you choose?

Will you choose the struggle of discipline over regret?
Will you choose the struggle of growth over comfort?
Will you choose the struggle of showing up, even when you don’t feel like it?

Because growth doesn’t happen when life is easy.
Strength isn’t built when everything goes your way.
Character isn’t developed in comfort.

It’s built in the early mornings.
In the missed lifts.
In the setbacks.
In the failures.
In the moments when nobody is watching and you decide to keep going anyway.

No day will ever be perfect.
But every day is an opportunity.

An opportunity to become a little stronger.
A little wiser.
A little more resilient than you were yesterday.

So embrace the struggle.
Learn from it.
Grow through it.

One rep.
One lift.
One breath.
One day at a time.

Because the person you are becoming is worth fighting for.

What an incredible and humbling experience this morning speaking to the students at Bert Church High School through the SWIS program.

I’m truly grateful to have been invited to share not only my passion for health, fitness, movement, and exercise, but also my journey as an entrepreneur, a newcomer to Canada, and someone who came from an immigrant household with big dreams, fears, challenges, and obstacles along the way.

We talked about how movement is more than just exercise. It’s confidence. It’s stress relief. It’s energy. It’s discipline. It’s believing in yourself when life gets difficult.

I also shared the realities of entrepreneurship — the risks, the sacrifices, the failures, the uncertainty — but also the joy, freedom, fulfillment, and purpose that comes from building something you truly believe in.

Coming to Canada as a newcomer taught me resilience, gratitude, and the importance of community. Opportunities don’t always come easy, but hard work, consistency, and surrounding yourself with good people can truly change your life.

If I was able to inspire even one student today to believe in themselves a little more, to take care of their health, to chase their goals, or to realize that their story matters, then it was all worth it.

At the end of the day, it’s not about money. It’s about impact. ❤️

Thank you to the students, staff, and the SWIS program for allowing me to share my story and my heart with your class today.

Want to know your starting point before beginning your fitness journey? 💪🏽

Here are 4 simple fitness tests you can do at home to measure your current fitness level and help determine what your workout program should focus on. These movements test your strength, muscle endurance, flexibility, mobility, posture, and core stability. Your body will tell you what it needs! 👊🏽

1️⃣ PLANK TEST
The plank measures your core strength and endurance while also highlighting posture and stability. A strong core helps protect your lower back, improves balance, and creates a stronger foundation for every movement in life and fitness.

2️⃣ PUSH-UP TEST
Push-ups test upper body strength and muscular endurance in the chest, shoulders, triceps, and core. They also reveal shoulder stability and overall body control. Can you maintain proper form while under fatigue?

3️⃣ WALL SIT TEST
The wall sit measures lower body muscular endurance, especially in the quads, glutes, and core. It also tests mental toughness and stability. Strong legs are essential for everyday movement, injury prevention, and athletic performance.

4️⃣ OVERHEAD SQUAT TEST
One of the best movement assessments you can do! The overhead squat evaluates mobility, flexibility, balance, posture, and movement mechanics through the ankles, hips, thoracic spine, shoulders, and core. Tightness or compensation patterns here can show where your body needs improvement before increasing intensity.

These 4 movements are great starting points to determine:
✔️ What your strengths are
✔️ What areas need improvement
✔️ How your workout program should be designed
✔️ How to reduce injury risk
✔️ How to train smarter, not just harder

Remember… fitness is not about comparing yourself to others. It’s about understanding YOUR starting point and building from there. 🔥

DM me your results! Let’s talk! 🙌🏽
