BOTSWANA FOOTBALL ASSOCIATION MOURNS FORMER MARES PLAYER ANNAH NAMETSO SECHANE

The Botswana Football Association (BFA) is deeply saddened by the passing of Annah Nametso Sechane, a former player of the Botswana Senior Women’s National Football Team, The Mares.

Annah was a talented footballer and a valued member of the football family whose passion, commitment and contribution to the game will forever be remembered. During her playing career, she proudly represented Botswana and The Mares, creating lasting memories with her teammates, coaches and everyone who had the privilege of sharing her football journey.

Her passing is a profound loss to Botswana football and the wider sporting community. The BFA joins the football fraternity in mourning a player who played her part in the growth and history of women’s football in Botswana.

The Botswana Football Association extends its deepest and most sincere condolences to Annah’s family, friends, former teammates, coaches and the entire Township Rollers Ladies FC family during this difficult time. May they find strength and comfort in the memories of the life she lived and the joy she shared with those around her.

On behalf of the Botswana Football Association, BFA President Mr Oabile Thona Tariq Babitseng requests that all official football matches observe a moment of silence in honour of the late Annah Sechane until her burial.

As the football family comes together to mourn her passing, we celebrate Annah’s contribution to the game and the memories she leaves behind. Her legacy will remain part of the history of The Mares and Botswana football.

May her soul rest in eternal peace. 🕊️
