Sinner: From ski slopes to king of tennis.
But is he the exception?

A study of 9,000 athletes found that those who played multiple sports often had a better chance of becoming professionals. They had fewer injuries and less risk of burnout.

Tennis is different, though. To reach the top, many players need to specialize early and already be strong as juniors. It is also an expensive sport. If a young player is doing well, sponsors, federation support, or even an agent can help. If not, the best path may be to keep playing several sports until around age 12, then focus fully on tennis.

That is why Jannik Sinner’s story is so interesting. He played both skiing and tennis before choosing tennis full-time, and it raises a bigger question about the best path for young athletes.

So, is Sinner the exception, or is this the future of tennis development?
