Dear party people,
I rarely share personal matters on social media, as I believe in other ways of connecting on that level. However, given the current situation, I feel the need to offer some clarity.
For the past eight years, I have been the sole legal, administrative, and financial responsible for Cycles of Life, with the full support of the owner, the city council and the police. This has not changed and will not change in the future. All parties involved continue to support this, just as they always have since the festival was created with my company sole responsible.
Recently, I came across a post on the Cycles page where I was previously the admin. This page, which I created, built and maintained with 100% of the (video) content posted there by me, was taken from me without my consent. The post in question contains assumptions that are not supported by the owner of the festival location or the legal responsible of the events there.
Over time, it became clear that the energy exchange and division of responsibilities within a team of three had become very unbalanced. A recent in-depth evaluation showed a significant disparity in commitment to the work behind the scenes. After numerous failed attempts to address this in the past years, I had to make the difficult decision to step away from a dynamic that was no longer sustainable for me. This decision is not about personal conflicts but about maintaining honesty, professionalism, and fairness in large-scale projects that require a great deal of investment—both energetically and financially.
My motivation has always been to create meaningful experiences for the people, this is not about anything else. Because I do not need anything else from this, the investment of time is worth far more than the monetary compensation from such events. Organizing parties is not my primary source of income by far, and I only engage in it when it aligns with my values. Compared to other projects I have with many other amazing teams I work with; this is a very standard form of income considering the enormous time investment.
Unfortunately, certain harmful actions from the other parties involved took place on the festival grounds in recent weeks, while attempting to find a resolution, causing damage—not only to the property but also to my personal investments in the location and my energy having to deal with this. This made it impossible for me to maintain trust in a peaceful outcome, leading me to step away from the situation and protect my space.
To be clear, this is not and has never been about ownership. My role has always been about ensuring professionalism and fairness in the collaboration and having the space for communication. The owner has made it very clear that I alone will continue to hold his trust and responsibility for organizing events there. While I understand that this may be difficult for some to accept this decision, it remains the reality of the situation.
I see that some people are forming opinions and taking sides, which is natural in moments of tension. However, I encourage everyone to reflect on what they truly know about the situation beyond speculation. The full picture is often more complex than what appears on the surface. Or in this case, a post on a stolen page which holds no support of the owner of the festival grounds whatsoever.
At the end of the day, this is not about division, but about integrity. Instead of focusing on blame, we can ask ourselves what feels right, what aligns with our boundaries, and how we can act in ways that honor both ourselves and the greater good—without harming others in the process.
