Ramadan Sehri & Football Tournament – Season 1 ⚽🌙

Alhamdulillah, our tournament at East Court Arena was a great success. It was a night full of energy, teamwork, and beautiful memories.

We sincerely thank our organizing committee and respected seniors for taking this wonderful initiative and arranging such a well-organized event. Your hard work made everything possible.

Thank you to all the teams for their outstanding participation and enthusiasm. We are also grateful to our respected faculty members for attending the event and joining us for Sehri.

We are proud to announce that "Team Galatasaray" from the GEB Department secured the Runner-Up position in the INTRA EWU “Whole Night” Football Tournament 2026 (UEFA Champions League Edition) – Chapter 2.0, held on 22–23 January, 2026 at Royal Multisport Arena, Mohammadpur, Dhaka.

We are also honored to share that our defender Md. Suaib Al Hasan (GEB Alumni) was awarded "Best Defender of the Tournament" for his outstanding performance.

This achievement marks a turning point for GEB football. Our players showed great dedication, teamwork, and fighting spirit by playing the entire night with full strength. Though we could not lift the champion’s trophy, bringing a trophy home means a lot to us. We are proud of every single player and thankful to EWU bhai brothers for organizing such an energetic and memorable tournament. Best wishes to everyone involved.

Mahadi Hasan Saiem , a student of the Department of Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (GEB), East West University, successfully completed his Third Bangla Channel Swimming crossing, marking a significant personal and institutional achievement.

The Bangla Channel Swimming is a 16.1 km open-water swimming challenge conducted in the Bay of Bengal, spanning from Shah Pori Dwip to Saint Martin’s Island. In this year’s crossing, Mahadi Hasan Saiem completed the swim in 6 hours and 35 minutes under challenging conditions. Although the weather remained favorable, the shore conditions were difficult, adding to the intensity of the challenge.

Previously, in 2023, he completed the same crossing in 4 hours and 35 minutes. It is important to note that Bangla Channel Swimming is not a competitive race, but a demanding endurance-based adventure event that tests physical stamina, mental resilience, and adaptability to natural conditions. Each crossing presents unique challenges and experiences.

Recognized as one of the finest adventure sporting events in Bangladesh, Bangla Channel Swimming offers a profound test of human endurance in open-water conditions.

East West University facilitated the official registration for this event. Mahadi Hasan Saiem expresses his sincere gratitude to East West University and the Department of Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology for their continuous encouragement, institutional support, and motivation, which played a vital role in the successful completion of this achievement.

The Department of Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (GEB), East West University, proudly concludes the EWU GEB Short Pitch Cricket Intra Tournament 2.0 with immense success, joy and sportsmanship!

After a thrilling display of teamwork, passion and talent, the Genetic Drifters emerged as the Champion while the Nucleotide Ninjas secured the Runner-up position. 🏆👏

Individual brilliance also shone throughout the tournament —

Heartfelt thanks to all participating players, graduates, alumni and our respected faculty members for their incredible enthusiasm and effort on the field.
