Attention Freshers of Batch '28, your first challenge from Notre Dame Chess Club is ready.

To warmly welcome you and mark your beginning with thrill and a little brainwork, we are distributing the Welcome Puzzle Set to all of you. The board is set for you to make your move. Show us what you are made of with this puzzle set!

If you didn’t get a physical copy of the puzzle set, don't worry you can easily access and collect the digital copy of the puzzle set from the link provided in the comments section below.

To submit, take a clear photo of your solved answer sheet and send it directly to our official Facebook or Instagram page. Be sure to include your name, admission serial, phone number, and email address in your message.

If you have trouble submitting online, do not worry, as you can hand in your physical answer sheet in person at our booth located right in front of Ganguly Bhaban.

The submission deadline is 05 October 2026, by 11:59 PM.

What a first day for Batch 28.

We knew many of you would come, but today’s turnout went far beyond what we had imagined, filling the room and then some.

To everyone who joined us, thank you. To those we could not accommodate, we are genuinely sorry, and we hope to make it up to you soon.

This was only an introduction. We have something much bigger planned for Batch 28, so stay tuned.

হোসে রাউল কাপাব্লাঙ্কার “চেজ ফান্ডামেন্টালস” বইটির বাংলা অনুবাদের ধারাবাহিকতায় আজ আমরা নিয়ে এসেছি এর নবম অংশ। দাবার সূক্ষ্ম কৌশল ও বিশ্লেষণ সহজ ভাষায় আপনাদের সামনে তুলে ধরার যে প্রচেষ্টা আমরা চালিয়ে যাচ্ছি, আপনাদের অব্যাহত সমর্থন তা আরও গতিশীল করছে।

আজকের পর্বে আমরা চতুর্থ অধ্যায়ের (সাধারণ তত্ত্ব) শেষ অংশ সম্পন্ন করার পাশাপাশি প্রবেশ করব পঞ্চম অধ্যায়: শেষ-খেলার কৌশল-এ। এই পর্বের মূল বিষয়গুলোর মধ্যে রয়েছে একটি নমুনা খেলায় খেলোয়াড়ের চালের উদ্দেশ্যের সমালোচনা এবং ভিন্ন দিক থেকে আকস্মিক আক্রমণ।

বাস্তব ম্যাচের চাল বিশ্লেষণ করে তার পেছনের উদ্দেশ্য ও ভুলত্রুটি বুঝতে পারা এবং বোর্ডের অপ্রত্যাশিত কোণ থেকে হঠাৎ আক্রমণ গড়ে তুলে প্রতিপক্ষকে পরাস্ত করার যে অনন্য কৌশল কাপাব্লাঙ্কা দেখিয়েছেন, তা একজন দাবারুর চিন্তাভাবনাকে বহুলাংশে পরিপক্ব করে তোলে।

Through your hard work and determination, you have rightfully earned your place at Notre Dame College. Congratulations to you all! A world full of new experiences and opportunities now lies ahead of you.

Notre Dame College has always focused on more than academic excellence. It is also a place to grow as a person, to develop leadership, teamwork, perseverance, social awareness, and character. The 26 clubs of Notre Dame play an important role in that experience, each providing its own opportunities to learn, explore, and grow beyond the classroom.

হোসে রাউল কাপাব্লাঙ্কার “চেজ ফান্ডামেন্টালস” বইটির বাংলা অনুবাদের ধারাবাহিকতায় আজ আমরা নিয়ে এসেছি এর অষ্টম অংশ। দাবা খেলার গভীর ও সূক্ষ্ম কৌশলগুলো সহজ বাংলায় তুলে ধরার যে যাত্রা আমরা শুরু করেছি, আপনাদের অব্যাহত উৎসাহে তা সুন্দরভাবে সামনে এগিয়ে চলছে।

আজকের পর্বে আমরা চতুর্থ অধ্যায়ের (সাধারণ তত্ত্ব) আরও দুটি অত্যন্ত গুরুত্বপূর্ণ কৌশল নিয়ে আলোচনা করব উদ্যোগ ত্যাগ করা (Relinquishing the Initiative) এবং মূল খেলা থেকে ঘুঁটিকে বিচ্ছিন্ন করা (Cutting Off a Piece from the Main Scene of Action)।

অনেক সময় খেলায় সাময়িকভাবে আক্রমণ বা 'ইনিশিয়েটিভ' ছেড়ে দিয়ে আরও বড় সুবিধা আদায় করে নেওয়া কিংবা কৌশলে প্রতিপক্ষের শক্তিশালী কোনো ঘুঁটিকে মূল লড়াইয়ের মাঠ থেকে দূরে সরিয়ে রেখে সুবিধা হাসিল করার ধারণাগুলো কাপাব্লাঙ্কা এই অংশে চমৎকারভাবে বিশ্লেষণ করেছেন। দাবার বোর্ডে দূরদর্শী সিদ্ধান্ত নিতে এবং ম্যাচ নিয়ন্ত্রণ করতে এই তত্ত্বগুলো বোঝা অত্যন্ত জরুরি।

আজকের পর্বের মাধ্যমে আমরা প্রবেশ করছি একটি নতুন অধ্যায়ে চতুর্থ অধ্যায়: সাধারণ তত্ত্ব। এই পর্বে আলোচনা করা হয়েছে তিনটি অত্যন্ত গুরুত্বপূর্ণ বিষয়: উদ্যোগ (Initiative), রাজার উপর সরাসরি ও সর্বাত্মক আক্রমণ, এবং পরোক্ষ আক্রমণের অন্তর্নিহিত শক্তি।

হোসে রাউল কাপাব্লাঙ্কার “চেজ ফান্ডামেন্টালস” বইটির বাংলা অনুবাদের ধারাবাহিকতায় আজ আমরা নিয়ে এসেছি এর ষষ্ঠ অংশ। এই পর্বটি গত ১৪ আগস্ট পোস্ট করার কথা থাকলেও অনিবার্য কারণবশত আমরা তা প্রকাশ করতে পারিনি। দীর্ঘ বিরতির পর আজ ৪ সেপ্টেম্বর থেকে পুনরায় আমাদের এই প্রিয় সিরিজটি প্রতি সপ্তাহের মতো শুক্রবারে নিয়মিত প্রকাশিত হতে থাকবে। আপনাদের এই দীর্ঘ প্রতীক্ষা ও সমর্থনের জন্য আমরা আন্তরিকভাবে কৃতজ্ঞ।

আজকের পর্বে আমরা শেষ করব দ্বিতীয় অধ্যায়ের শেষ দুটি বিশেষ অংশ ঘোড়া ও হাতি দিয়ে কীভাবে কিস্তিমাত করতে হয় এবং নৌকার বিরুদ্ধে রানীর লড়াইয়ের কৌশল। একই সাথে আজ আমরা শুরু করছি তৃতীয় অধ্যায়, যার বিষয়বস্তু হলো 'মিডল গেমে জয়ের পরিকল্পনা'। এই অধ্যায়ে রয়েছে ঘোড়ার সাহায্য ছাড়া আক্রমণ পরিচালনা, শক্তিশালী ঘুঁটি হিসেবে ঘোড়াকে ব্যবহার করে আক্রমণ এবং পরোক্ষ আক্রমণের মাধ্যমে জয় ছিনিয়ে নেওয়ার মূল কৌশলগুলো।

Today, we honor the memory of Mikhail Botvinnik, the 6th World Chess Champion and one of the most influential figures in modern chess history.

Known as the "Patriarch of the Soviet Chess School," Botvinnik brought a disciplined, scientific approach to the game. He combined his career as a world-class grandmaster with pioneer work in electrical engineering and computer chess, proving that rigorous preparation and analytical thinking are the keys to long-term success. Through his famous chess school, he mentored future legends like Garry Kasparov, Anatoly Karpov, and Vladimir Kramnik.
