🦅🔴🔵 MEET THE REDHAWKS: RIBBO 🔵🔴🦅

With pre-season well underway, we wanted to take a moment to acknowledge the huge amount of work that goes into keeping our club running behind the scenes.

So we sat down with possibly the greatest volunteer you’ll ever meet — Marcus “Ribbo” Ribbons.

Life Member, premiership winner, ton scorer, volunteer extraordinaire… and, most importantly, a bloke who bloody loves a chat.

We asked Ribbo five questions about his time at the Redhawks:

🗣 What keeps you coming back to the club?

"I love the game and to see my friends — and as you know, I love a good chat."

🗣What’s your proudest Redhawks moment?

Being part of the first premiership and scoring my first ton for the Redhawks were both highlights.
But my proudest moment was receiving the Lance Reid Award for the first time — an award honouring one of the most humble men I knew and a co-founder of the club.

🗣What did becoming a Life Member mean to you?

"That was a very humbling experience to be given life membership to a club I love and enjoy being a part of."❤️🔵

🗣What advice would you give to a new player?

"Ask questions of everybody, as we all enjoy the game and are happy to help develop you into the cricketer you want to be."

🗣 Finally… After all these years, how many more balls are you planning to block before you admit you are actually a bowler?

I was Bowler of the Tournament at the inaugural Muchea Sevens, taking 11 wickets, more than Gav (3 votes) Adams, just ask him. 😂😂

Ribbo is exactly what a community cricket club is built on — people who give their time, look after their mates and help make the club what it is.

With pre-season continuing tomorrow, we’re excited to announce our final recruit for the upcoming season — and this one is a local!

Richard Foan joins the Redhawks ready to make his mark. 🦅

A hard-hitting left-hander, Richard is going to be a great watch this season. 💥🏏

There’s nothing better than seeing local players getting involved and helping build the club, and we’re stoked to have Richard on board.

Meet Taj 👋

As one of our up and coming junior players we sat down with him and asked him to share his thoughts on the club.

🗣You were 15 and already playing 1st Grade. What does that mean to you?

"It gives me confidence in my ability and shows that the club has faith in me to play at the highest level at a younger age."

🗣What's helped you improve your cricket?

"Being around a supportive group who have played a lot of cricket, while also playing at a higher standard, gives me the drive to keep improving."

🗣What's the best thing about playing at Yanchep?

"There's always someone around to talk to, whether it's about cricket or just having a chat. You're never left out and everyone is super supportive. It makes playing cricket fun."

🗣What would you say to a 14–17 year old thinking about joining Yanchep?

"You'll be graded fairly on your ability and have the resources to improve. There are plenty of young guys to train and hang out with, so you can have fun while improving your cricket. It's a great club to be part of."

🗣And finally… how have you coped since your humiliating defeat against an overweight man twice your age in a 22-yard sprint?

"How did I know this was coming up? Despite my horrible 22-yard sprint, the coping strategy has still been: 'If it was 24 yards, I would've had him.'" 😂

We'll let him believe that one. 😂

🦅🔴🔵 INTRODUCING OUR NEWEST REDHAWK 🕵️‍♂️🏏

We’re pumped to welcome Chemeera to the Yanchep Redhawks for the upcoming season!

He calls himself 007… and with the ability to cause damage with both bat and ball, he has a lisence to thrill!

Chemeera is a very handy addition to the Redhawks squad - on and off the field.

Now all we need to find out is whether 007 can handle the pressure of the Redhawks cheer squad at the bar! 🍻
