Thanks to Sports Focus, we're fortunate to be able to bring these sessions to Bendigo for free, as we know that regional clubs are changing and have a great diversity amongst it's members. It's a chance to better understand the experiences of some your members in participating in sport and maybe start some conversations in your club.

This workshop provides an opportunity to explore what true inclusion in sport looks and feels like in practice. Our clubs reflect the diversity of our wider community, and this session supports participants to consider how their club can be a genuinely safe and welcoming environment for all.
Through immersive activities, shared reflection, and meaningful discussion, participants will be encouraged to see things from different perspectives, deepen their understanding, and challenge existing assumptions. The session aims to build practical insight into how more inclusive and welcoming sporting environments can be created.

Places are strictly limited, so please encourage everyone to register at www.trybooking.com/DMEFH

We start off Reconciliation Week strong with Sorry Day. Today we remember the Stolen Generations, the children who were taken from their families, their Country, their belonging. Who were forbidden the right of their language and identity, leaving many lost and wandering, wondering.

Sorry Day is one day we can collectively acknowledge and recognise the pain of families and those who are still picking up the pieces to figure out how they fit in. To know who is brother and sister.

It is not a day of blame and pointing the finger but a day of recognition: to sit with the truth of what happened in the past, and the impact it has on individuals today. Sorry Day is a day to show acknowledgement and support for what someone has been through, and to recommit to a long, continuous journey of healing.

The journey of healing is long, but it leads us to ‘why’. Why we fight for Treaty, care for Country, revive language and why we all strive to walk together as one.

Let us walk together and support one another as days go by, unconditionally. Shaping a brighter future.

And for today, we say Sorry.
Because the past shapes the present, and with time, this current moment will long be in the past too, and we can only hope our support will shape a better present and future for years to come. 🪶🪶🪶
•••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••
We know days like this may bring up a lot of feelings and grief. We encourage you to allow yourself to feel and debrief with a trusted loved one. Please, batak (take care) - look after yourself, your family, your friends. This can look like a good conversation with a close person in your life, no shame in a hug, or it can look like relaxing with a comfort series tonight. Getting around the table and having a game night, listening to your old playlist, or having a night walk on Country.

⚽🌍 WORLD FOOTBALL DAY 🌍⚽

Today we celebrate more than just the game we love.
World Football Day is a reminder that football has the power to connect people, break down barriers and create stronger communities — both on and off the pitch.

At the Woodend Eagles Soccer Club, we see this every week:
💚 Friendships formed
💛 Confidence built
🖤 Respect learned
💚 Communities brought together

Football speaks every language. It creates belonging, encourages teamwork and gives young people the chance to grow, dream and thrive.

As a club, we are proud to support initiatives that promote inclusion, reconciliation, diversity and opportunity for all children — because one game really can help shape one better world.

⚽ One Game. One Community. One Future. ⚽

Happy World Football Day from everyone at the Woodend Eagles! 🦅

🟡🦅 WEAR IT YELLOW WITH THE EAGLES 🦅🟡

This National Reconciliation Week, the Woodend Eagles Soccer Club is proud to stand alongside Children’s Ground and support the “Wear It Yellow” campaign.

Reconciliation is about learning, listening, respect and walking together, and as a club, we believe sport has the power to bring communities together and help create a brighter future for every child.

Our special yellow training jersey has been inspired by connection, community and the journey we walk together. Even better, for every jersey sold before 3 June, the club will donate $5 directly to Children’s Ground to support First Nations children, families and communities.

💛 Wear yellow
🖤 Show respect
💛 Start conversations
🖤 Help make change together

The Woodend Eagles are committed to building an inclusive, welcoming and community-driven club where every child belongs.

🦅 WOODEND EAGLES | THE TEAM IN FOREST GREEN 🦅

Team Feature: U10 Biyal (Red River Gum)

Yesterday, our fantastic U10 Biyal squad took to the pitch at home for a brilliant clash against Castlemaine! It was a fantastic display of teamwork, determination, and community spirit, and we couldn’t be prouder of how this group is evolving.

As a club, we love watching this team take on the unique challenges that come with this season. For our Biyal crew, moving into U10s in the Football Victoria Greater Bendigo League is a major milestone in their junior football development.

The transition from U9s to U10s introduces some exciting new shifts for the players:
⚽ More Teammates on the Pitch: The game expands from 7v7 to 9v9 football, meaning more passing options, bigger squads, and a greater emphasis on playing as a cohesive unit.
🏃‍♂️ A Bigger Stage: Matches move to a larger half-size pitch, requiring more running, tactical awareness, and space management.
🧠 Tactical Evolution: While the focus remains strictly on fun, development, and skill-building without public ladders or scoring pressure, the larger format introduces foundational concepts like structured positioning and playing out from the back using the retreat line.

Our U10 Biyal players are tackling this step up with massive smiles and a mountain of energy. They are a shining example of what the Eagles spirit is all about!

Go team Biyal! 🌲🦅
