๐๏ธ THE BLOKE BEHIND THE BIKE๐AND THE โAH-HA!โ MOMENTS HE LIVES FOR AS A COACH!
๐ฏ 40+ years riding. 6,000+ riders trained.
Whether he's coaching Trials, Enduro or Adventure Riders, after all these years, Paul still gets a real buzz out of watching a rider have that โAH-HA!โ momentโฆ when something suddenly clicks and they think:
โYepโฆ Iโve got it!โ ๐ช๐ช๐ช
๐ค โWho is Paul?โ
We get asked this more than you might think.
And the funny thing isโฆ Paul probably wouldn't tell you himself. ๐
He's just not wired that way and he's certainly not one to plaster himself all over YouTube! (Sorry, Paul! ๐)
So, I โ Jade, his wife ๐ โ thought I'd fill in some of the blanks.
SOME FUN FACTSโฆ AND THE SLIGHTLY OBSESSIVE SIDE ๐
๐ 40+ YEARS riding & competing
๐ฏ 25+ YEARS coaching riders
๐ฅ 6,000+ RIDERS trained
๐ Raised in the country, Paul got his first bike at 6 years old and started racing Motocross & Dirt Track at 11.
Since then, he's ridden and competed in:
๐๏ธ Motocross
๐๏ธ Enduro
๐๏ธ Trials
๐๏ธ Supercross
๐๏ธ Dirt Track
Heโs a Certified Level 2 Motorcycle Coach, Presenter and Trainer, and has held senior roles with Motorcycling Victoria, including Acting CEO, Operations Manager and Sports & Development Manager.
His involvement in motorcycle sport spans club, state and national levels.
๐คฏ He's also got an engineering-style brain that's always working out how things work, why they work and how they could work better.
If the bike's not right, Paul won't let it go. ๐ - trust me, I live with him!๐คฆโโ๏ธ
๐ฏ And he absolutely LOVES helping riders and other coaches develop and get better โ but especially those moments when it all comes together:
โ๏ธ Something suddenly clicks.
โ๏ธ The bike starts to feel different.
โ๏ธ Frustration turns into confidence.
โ๏ธ They realise, โIโve got this.โ
โ๏ธ They discover what's possible for THEM. ๐ช
And then there's the slightly obsessive side tooโฆ ๐
๐บ๏ธ Give Paul a map and he'll be happy for hours.
Tracks.
Trails.
Terrain.
Routes.
What's around the next corner?
Where can we ride?
How can we link it together?
What's going to challenge riders without just making it hard for the sake of it?
He's always looking.
Always planning.
Always learning.
Because for Paul, it's about understanding the bike, understanding the terrain and helping riders understand themselves.
That's Paul.
And that's the experience โ and passion โ behind Safe2Ride too. ๐๏ธโค๏ธ
If you've trained with Paul, I'd love to knowโฆ
What was your โAH-HA!โ moment? ๐
I hope that helps you get to know Co-Founder & Lead Coach Paul a little better. Thereโs always more to the storyโฆ but I donโt want to embarrass him too much in one post! ๐โค๏ธ
