Should you be doing other recovery therapies?

Short answer “yes”

To achieve optimal performance and recovery, it’s essential to incorporate some occasional natural therapies into your training routine. While intense gym sessions lay the groundwork, your body also requires effective strategies to manage inflammation, stress, and muscle fatigue. Techniques such as, massage therapy, sauna, chiro or even osteo therapy can significantly enhance improved overall physical health to keep you consistent with your workout. By prioritising recovery and incorporating these therapies, you’ll be able to train harder, minimise injury risks, and achieve better long-term results.

Why settle for just grinding when you can thrive?

I’m now six months post-injury, and I’m thrilled to share my progress. I suffered a severe 9cm detached hamstring from my glute bone, but thanks to rehab training and various therapies, especially recently had dry needling and years of consistency with my chiropractor. I’m regaining mobility and strength. This week’s lower body session was a breakthrough, I performed a Romanian deadlift with both legs without feeling any discomfort. It’s the small victories that count, like being able to put on pants or pick up weights with ease, especially with PT clients. My next goal is to start jogging lightly and regain my agility.

In my coaching career, I frequently see clients fixated on the physiques of fitness influencers, hoping to replicate someone else’s specific glutes, legs, or shape or even timeline of someone else’s transformation.

While inspiration is a powerful tool, using others as a blueprint for your own body is a trap that hinders your progress.

The reality is that you cannot physically recreate another person. You lack their specific genetic bone structure, hormonal profile, lifestyle constraints, and deep cellular makeup. Trying to mold yourself into someone else’s image doesn’t just steal your joy; it distracts you from the unique potential of your own physiology.

True transformation isn’t found in a mirror image of an influencer, but in the consistency of your own daily work. Stop competing with a version of yourself that doesn’t exist and start building the best version of the body you actually own.
