Happy Vishu ๐ŸŒผโœจ

May this auspicious day fill your homes with happiness, prosperity, and fresh beginnings. Just like the first sight of the Vishukkani, may your year be filled with positivity, purpose, and plenty of dance

We are so thankful for each and every one of you who continues to support and grow with Noopur Arts Academy.

A little note from us โ€” things may be a bit quieter here for a while as we get ready to welcome our newest little blessing ๐Ÿ‘ถ But weโ€™ll be back later in the year, recharged and ready to share more dance, learning, and joy with you all!

Here's to 2026 bringing more joy through dancing ๐ŸŽ‰

2025 has been an awesome year! A year of lots of learning, growth, inspiration and fun.

Thank you to the students for their hardwork this year. It's so wonderful to see how you've progressed over just one year and I can't wait to see where your journey takes you in the years to come. I'm gonna be right here next to you cheering you on.

Thank you to the parents, partners and families for their endless support to both the students and the school. This year wouldn't have been the success that it was without you.

Can't wait to see what 2026 has in store for us ๐Ÿ’ƒ๐Ÿพโœจ๐ŸŒŸ

Wishing everyone a safe and Merry Christmas ๐ŸŽ„๐ŸŽ

Sometimes it's not about being perfect, but about the actual journey - the laughs and jokes in the 30 mins to learn this is what we remember when we keep watching this ๐Ÿฅฐ๐Ÿฅฐ (also our new saris!!)

We'll learn the rest - but for our last dance class of the year this was fun!

๐Ÿช”Diwali, also known as the Festival of Lights, is one of the most celebrated festivals in India and across the world.

It marks the victory of light over darkness and good over evil โ€” symbolised by lighting diyas, decorating homes, sharing sweets, and gathering with loved ones.

Across India, Diwali holds different meanings. In North India, it celebrates Lord Ramaโ€™s return to Ayodhya after defeating Ravana. In the South, it marks Lord Krishnaโ€™s triumph over the demon Narakasura. In the East, devotees honour Goddess Kali, and in the West, homes welcome Goddess Lakshmi, the bringer of prosperity and wealth.

Spiritually, it reminds us to let go of negativity and welcome new beginnings with joy, gratitude, and hope.

May your life be filled with light, laughter, and endless blessings this Diwali! ๐Ÿช”

Aramandi is the foundational posture in Bharatanatyam. It is achieved by turning the feet and knees outward, bending the knees, and keeping the spine straight. Every beginner learns to hold this position, as it is the base for most classical movements. While it is quite difficult in the beginning practicing aramandi regularly improves balance, builds strength in the legs, and enhances flexibility. Proper aramandi gives the dance its signature shapes and is key to achieving precise footwork and clean lines.

Adavus are the basic building blocks of Bharatanatyam. Without it, your form, structure, technique and clarity are nothing. It's so important to always start and practice the basics, regardless of age and experience.

The Natya Shashtra has many slokams. Each one about a different component of the arts (not just dance).

This Guru Mahima slokam defines the positioning of Anjali (prayer) hands in relation to different divine beings and revered figures.

Translation:
"Seeking blessings from God, hands are placed above the head
Seeking blessing from your Guru, hands are placed at the forehead
Seeking blessings from everyone else, including your fellow class, hands are placed at the chest"

This is what we follow when we do our Namaskaram before and at the end of all our sessions.
