I got an Ayurvedic massage today. Two hours of slow, warm, gentle pressure (highly recommend!). You can tell it was good I’m talking so slow! I never get a relaxing massage, usually remedial because I want to feel like I’m getting back for buck and getting all those knots released 😂 I realised I had been choosing this on autopilot, not because it’s always what I needed, but because I defaulted to it. More pressure must mean more results, right?

It got me thinking about everywhere else I do this. Where am I pushing for some sort of outcome, going hard when I don’t need to be?

Do you feel like you have to swim laps before you’re allowed to just float at the beach? Does a walk have to be a power walk to count? Does rest have to be earned?

We’re so conditioned to push and go hard for an outcome that we forget our bodies and minds sometimes just need the gentler version.

You don’t need to “earn it”, because soft and slow can be just as powerful.

So think about, where are you defaulting to hard when you might actually need slow?

Every time you feel that flat, overwhelmed, foggy, can’t-move feeling, try shaking your arms and hands for 60 seconds.

It sounds weird/looks weird but it works every time. Here’s why:

When you’re in shutdown, that heavy, numb, disconnected state, your nervous system has literally hit the off switch. At no fault of your own, not because you’re lazy or broken. Because your brain decided the threat was inescapable, so it collapsed your energy to protect you.

The problem? You’re still stuck there even after the threat is gone.

So how do we end the cycle and return to regulated again? A tool like shaking your arms and hands sends a direct signal to your brainstem: the body can move, “I am capable”. The threat isn’t inescapable. We can do this!

It’s called completing the survival cycle, and your nervous system has been waiting to do it.

You don’t need to understand it fully (although it helps us to be much kinder to ourselves). You just need to try a tool the next time you’re flat on the couch wondering why you can’t seem to move.

Shake for 60 seconds & notice what shifts. I would love to hear if it works for you!

Save this for the next time your body goes offline 💛

Here is why I’m celebrating (with a delish danish) and posting anyway…

Firstly, maybe you’re not thinking it’s cringe…Maybe you’re super supportive of people trying to grow on socials to support their small business (thank you to people like you!).

Maybe it’s just the very mean, critical voice in my head who is saying “how embarrassing, 1k sucks, do not highlight this”.

However, as a mental health coach, I tell my clients every day to celebrate their wins - no matter how small they seem, so I am going to take my own advice.

Why I’m celebrating it:
- 1,000 people choosing to follow me means they said “yeh I like whats she’s saying & I want more” or “yeh that resonated with me”.
- Imagine talking to 1,000 people in your living room (wouldn’t even fit in my house). That’s actually huge! But social media makes it seem like nothing.
- Because I showed up most days, even when it didn’t feel like it, because I have the intention of helping just 1 person to feel better & know they aren’t alone
- It takes consistency which is hard!
- the biggest challenge of all for me, is putting my face out there, getting over the cringe of speaking to camera, and sharing about topics that is so so important to me
- It’s like loosing weight - if your goal is to lose 10kg and you only celebrate once you get there - you are going to have a miserable time. But if you celebrate with every 1kg, you are going to actually stick to your goals and have a much better chance of getting to the 10kg
- A win is a win, no matter how big or small
- Life doesn’t magically get better once you get to 10k, 100k, whatever the goal is (dream car, house, holidays etc ) so we have to pause, take a moment to celebrate our achievements along the way!
- I’m going to feel the fear & do it anyway.

Thank you to those who support my goals, like, share posts & celebrate my efforts. I appreciate you 🧡

If you are new here, please follow along to help me grow my community & help anxious people feel calm & in control again ✨

You think of something you want to say, but you over think it, panic and then never say what you wanted to share. Then the moment has gone.

This is super common! But there is usually a reason why we don’t feel comfortable to speak up…

A subconscious belief is a story you’ve been running on autopilot, usually since childhood. You didn’t choose it but you absorbed it and now it lives inside you and it’s informs so many of your decisions without you even realising!

It could have come from the people around you, the environment you grew up in, the moments you learned it wasn’t safe to take up space or share your truth.

The tricky part? It doesn’t feel like a belief. It feels like the truth (our mind makes it feel like a fact!).

It shows up as a racing heart before you speak or scanning the room for signs you’ve lost someone. Holding back the thought because what if it lands wrong and you offend someone?

You’re not overthinking. Your nervous system is doing exactly what it learned to do.

This carousel walks you through how to actually work with it, not fight it, not silence it but how to work with it.

Save this for when that voice shows up 🤍

I used to think I just needed to try harder, get a better routine, or keep pushing through. Turns out I was trying to solving a body problem with mindset tools.

When you’ve been stuck in survival mode for so long even good/fun/joyous things can feel scary. This is how my client uncovered what was causing her to feel anxious. Once she got curious about it she was able to show herself compassion and find her inner strength to embrace the fun in life again.

It’s never too late 🤍 if you’re curious about how you can step in joy and exploring life again, head to my link in bio to see how coaching can help xx
