πŸ† Day 1 of the Wingham Open Rifle Championships kicks off today!

Today we'll be shooting ranges over 400m and 2 x 500-yard matches, and if yesterday was anything to go by, it's going to be a real test of skill and patience.

Yesterday's sweepstakes was contested on the 600-yard mound using the 300m aiming mark. The wind was up, conditions were tricky, and the challenge was made even tougher by a tiny centre to aim at. It certainly kept everyone honest and demanded plenty of concentration on every shot.

Congratulations to yesterday's sweepstakes winners:

πŸ₯‡ TRA
Chris Schwebel (Holsworthy RC) – 71.8

πŸ₯‡ TRB
Sandi Moore (Mossman Neutral Bay) 68.2

πŸ₯‡ TRC
Ella Coffey (West Wallsend) 59.1

πŸ₯‡ FSA
Ray Nash (Wingham RC) 76.1

πŸ₯‡ FSB
Kylie Mitchell (Spring Ridge RC) 69.1

πŸ₯‡ F Open
Brendan Rice (Wingham RC) 83.1

πŸ₯‡ FTR
Daniel Silver (Marrickville RC) 64.1

πŸ₯‡ Sporter PCO
Sam Addison (Wingham RC) 72.5

Well done to all grade winners for mastering some very challenging conditions. With the wind up and a tiny centre to aim at, every point had to be earned.

Best of luck to all competitors for Day 1 of the Championships. Looking forward to seeing how the scores stack up over the 400m and 500-yard ranges today.

Lock this one into the calendar β€” the 2026 Goondiwindi Prize Shoot is shaping up to be a great weekend of shooting.

With the new range distances for 2026, competitors will tackle 700m and double 800m on Sunday.

The F Class Challenge is also back and will once again run in conjunction with the Goondiwindi Prize Shoot.

More details coming soon β€” watch this space.

πŸ”§ CLUB WORKING BEE THIS SATURDAY πŸ”§

We’ll be holding a working bee at the club this Saturday from 9:00am and would love to see as many members there as possible helping out. After the working Bee is done we will have a shoot at 600Y

With the OPM coming up, it’s important we get the club looking its best and ready for the event. There are plenty of jobs to do, and every bit of help makes a big difference.

If you can make it, please bring along any gloves or tools that may be useful.

Many hands make light work β€” see you Saturday! πŸ’ͺ

πŸ† Wingham Rifle Club – Club Championship Round 2 (400m)

Round 2 is done and dusted! While conditions looked near perfect, a sneaky tailing breeze kept drifting shots across the target and made things far from easy.

Shoot of the Day goes to Ed Luszczynski, who fired a brilliant possible in Stage 2β€”top effort!

Great to welcome new shooters, father and. son duo Jason and Harrison, with young Harry (12) shooting a fantastic 107 on debut

Also awesome to see Terry and Dean backβ€”the club is growing, and it’s great to see more people getting involved in this sport!

We had 22 shooters on the mound, which is fantastic to see and made for a fun day out on the range.
