Wingham Rifle Club – 1000 Yard Results | 22 August 2026

Another great day at 1000 yards, with some excellent shooting across the categories — and two new Wingham range records broken for individual stage wins! 🔥

John Kent won the shoot of the day and the conditions were very nice for 1000 yards with just a slight breeze drifting across and a reasonable sight picture with changing light conditions to manage. Spring is almost here and the weather did not disappoint

Jason produced an outstanding 50.10 to win the stage and set a new Wingham 1000-yard PCO stage record. This was a 60.3 converted to Fclass scoring - well done

🎯 Wingham Rifle Club – 400m Results

What a fantastic day to be on the range! We were treated to a picture-perfect winter's day, with blue skies, sunshine and almost ideal shooting conditions. While the wind was generally very mild, a gentle tail breeze proved surprisingly difficult to judge. It kept the centre counts lower than expected and made good target bracketing essential to stay out of trouble.

The conditions certainly allowed some outstanding shooting, with plenty of possibles fired throughout the day and several impressive double possibles across the grades.

A special congratulations goes to Bernard Ryan, who was shooting our new Tikka T3x ACE Target club rifle chambered in 6.5 Manbun. Bernard fired a second-stage possible, the first possible ever recorded with the club's new club rifle—a fantastic milestone and a terrific effort.

Congratulations also to Kathryn Sweegers, who took out Shoot of the Day with an outstanding performance. Well done, Kathryn!

Wingham Rifle Club – Saturday 300m Results 🎯

We couldn't have asked for a better day on the range on Saturday, with brilliant sunshine, almost no wind and near-perfect conditions for our 300m shoot. It was one of those days where the weather allowed everyone to focus purely on their shooting, and there were some excellent scores recorded across the grades. A few of still found a way to drop a few, thats shooting :)

One of the real highlights of the day was welcoming five newer shooters to the firing line. Seeing new faces enjoying the sport is something we're incredibly proud of, and it's fantastic to watch the club continue to grow. Every experienced shooter was once a beginner, and it's great to see our members helping create such a welcoming and supportive environment for those just getting started.

🏆 Day 1 of the Wingham Open Rifle Championships kicks off today!

Today we'll be shooting ranges over 400m and 2 x 500-yard matches, and if yesterday was anything to go by, it's going to be a real test of skill and patience.

Yesterday's sweepstakes was contested on the 600-yard mound using the 300m aiming mark. The wind was up, conditions were tricky, and the challenge was made even tougher by a tiny centre to aim at. It certainly kept everyone honest and demanded plenty of concentration on every shot.

Did my first run up to Gundy last year and was one of the best shoots of the year - get involved.

Lock this one into the calendar — the 2026 Goondiwindi Prize Shoot is shaping up to be a great weekend of shooting.

With the new range distances for 2026, competitors will tackle 700m and double 800m on Sunday.

The F Class Challenge is also back and will once again run in conjunction with the Goondiwindi Prize Shoot.
