Meet Ziggy… ❤️‍🔥⚡️

Thought it was high time I gave this little man a proper introduction! He’s my ‘accidental’ impulse buy from a few months ago.
Ziggy is a 2yo QH who I’m currently breaking in (very slowly!). I haven’t broken anything in before so this will be a fun journey for both of us.

He’s got the most gorgeous personality ever, a little bit cheeky but so willing and affectionate - loving every second with him so far! 🥹

Hey guys!
I thought I’d reintroduce myself and explain the plans that come with the little ‘rebrand’ of this account…

My name is Maddy Theobald, I’m a 21 year old from north east Victoria, Australia who loves horses (yes my poor bank account gets tired easily) and I currently work at my local bakery. I also absolutely love the idea of being able to travel and explore more of this amazing country, and the world.

The dreaded question that often comes up at family events seems to be “what do you want to do with yourself” or “have you got a real job yet?”.
As much as I love the community side of working at a bakery in a small country town, handing out pies and making coffees isn’t exactly my idea of rewarding or fulfilling…

So when I came across the opportunity to join this incredible online business, it felt like the push I needed to finally take a leap and do something for me.

I’m super excited to continue diving into this new way of creating an income, which will allow me to not give up on having my gorgeous horses, while being able to work from anywhere - even if I’m camping on the edge of a river or sitting at home.

Our first MI3DE 🥹

So incredibly grateful to have had the opportunity to ride at an event that I’ve been dreaming about for years. I’ve watched, I’ve groomed and now finally ridden and completed Melbourne 3 Day 🤍

Poe was an absolute class act all week. Impeccably behaved in every way, couldn’t be prouder of the way he handled himself with the atmosphere and crowds (particularly considering how much of a sensitive orange he can be…)
He seriously impressed me 💪🏼

He produced a slightly tense test but super rideable, and didn’t let the atmosphere get the best of him which was all I was aiming for! Backed it up with an amazing clear and under time cross country round where we both had SO much fun! He came in with an immediate heart rate of 94 and left the vet check not long after at 72 so was well and truly feeling fighting fit 😅

Today he trotted up beautifully, was just a little tired in the jumping to have a handful down but once again was super rideable and not at all fussed by the crowds which was a huge win for him.

We are now back after a huge week - I’m so glad to have brought my happy, sound pony home.

the bestest boy in all the land 🥹

What an incredible horse to experience Sydney 3DE with. He took everything in his stride better than I could’ve hoped - from the travel, to the stabling and the atmosphere.

I was so impressed with him staying as rideable as he did in the dressage despite being tense and spooky, to score 67%, followed by clear cross country (until maddy buggered up her minutes and cost us a few seconds 🫣) and finished off with a couple of tired, spooky rails (plus a slightly useless jockey).

Just his attitude towards the entire experience was amazing 🤍

A huge thank you to everyone who made the week possible, particularly Bill, Lauren & Molly Lines for taking us along with you. To everyone who cheered us on, thank you and to Sam Jeffree, Saskia Hind & Paul Slattery - I couldn’t be more grateful for your support, generosity and wisdom, thank you for believing in me even when I don’t 😂🤍

What an awesome event & some pretty fabulous ponies 🫶🏼🥰🥰

Seattle Park - 2nd place in the CCI 3***-L at Melbourne 3 Day Event! What a special little horse he is - he performed amazingly in all three phases and I am so proud of him!
Tulara Baltango also had a great event, though was a little green in the big atmosphere. He did a good dressage test, jumped clear and under time cross country, and was unfortunately cost a placing by an error on my part today in the show jumping. Nonetheless it was a great end to what has been a truly exceptional season for him.

This not only marks the end of the season for me, but is also the last event I will be doing this year. As many of you may have already heard, I am pregnant, and we are very excited to be welcoming baby Hill to the family in November.

In the meantime, thank you to everyone who has played a part in supporting me throughout the last season. I have the best team of horses I have ever had and am very excited to resume their competition careers in 2024!

Poe pulled up super after the weekend, had a quick lunge to keep chipping away at his contact education and then a super flat ride to reinforce it - plus a lovely walk around the track 🤍

The last few weeks I’ve spent some time trying to figure out a couple of things about Poe that were a little off to me. In that time I’ve realised that he’s missing quite a few basic building blocks of his education which has made it difficult for him to keep ‘faking it till he makes it’.

It’s been quite a good mental realisation for me as I started putting unnecessary pressure on myself and him and wondering why it was taking us a while to get the work we were after - whereas now I can say that he wasn’t just being difficult, he genuinely didn’t understand what I was asking for! In a nutshell, he’s in grade 4 but never went to kinder 🤣

So we will be slowly addressing the holes in his knowledge from his early retraining days as we go, which has already started making quite the difference, which is so reassuring to see 🤍
