πΊπ From Our President: 2026 Season Wrap-Up ππΊ
Well thatβs a wrap on our inaugural season at Wellard Junior Football Club and what a great year itβs been.
This time last year, Wellard JFC was just an idea. Today, thanks to the incredible support of our community, it has become a reality. Together, we've created a fun, inclusive and family-friendly football club that everyone can be proud to be a part of.
Starting from nothing, we have grown to more than 100 Auskick and Starkick participants and over 60 junior footballers across our Year 3, Year 4, Year 5 and Year 5/6 Girls teams. This is something I am extremely proud of.
While our focus has always been on participation, development and enjoyment, it has been pleasing to see our junior teams remain competitive throughout the season. We've also created an amazing atmosphere every Sunday morning for our Auskick and Starkick families.
Along the way, our players and families have enjoyed some amazing experiences. From watching some of our Auskickers playing at half-time of a West Coast Eagles game, to participating at half time at the Pankind Round with the Kwinana Knights FC, to welcoming South Fremantle players to train with us, and training under lights alongside West Coast Eagles players. We were also honoured to have our major sponsor and Premier of Western Australia, Roger Cook, visit one of our junior training sessions.
Off the field we enjoyed a number of memorable community events, including a movie night at Rockingham Cinemas, two successful Bunnings sausage sizzles, a fantastic Bendigo Bank Club Day, and proudly representing our club at South Fremantle Parade Day. Our girls' team also had the incredible opportunity to form a guard of honour for the Fremantle Dockers AFLW side. To top it all off, we celebrated the end of a wonderful season with two fantastic wind-ups at Inflatable World in Leeming.
For me, the most rewarding part has been giving children the opportunity to play the game they love, have fun, build friendships and be part of something special. It has also been fantastic meeting so many new families and welcoming them into our Wolves community.
It has been a huge first year, but the future is even brighter. In 2027, we will continue to grow and expand as we move into our brand-new, state-of-the-art facilities at McWhirter Oval in Wellard. Exciting times are ahead for our club.
From the bottom of my heart I thank you all for getting behind and being a big part of Wellard JFC and I canβt wait to see you all next season.
