Now that the dust has settled and Kate and Dave have had time to soak in their achievements, the team and everyone at Bicycle Centre Warrnambool wants to acknowledge the efforts of team member Kate and her partner Dave at the recent Ironman 70.3 Cairns triathlon.

Both of them had fantastic races and can hold their heads high. Our team member Kate went about her training in the lead up to this event in her typical style, minimal fuss and fanfare, maximum determination and grit. We are proud of both of you and thanks for letting us be part of the journey!

This weekend our first member of the team, the ever smiling Kate Haberfield and her partner Dave are up in Cairns competing in the Cairns Ironman 70.3.

With yet another stunning ride, our evergreen rider Matthew Opperman put on a display at the 2026 Australian Gravel Championships securing a top ten finish for his age group, crossing the line in 9th place.

On a day that was far from pleasant, Oppy excelled in the mud and continued his run of form!!

Massive congratulations to our superstar Larisa Togiapoe who rode a really strong race on Sunday at Warrnambool at the Greg Gleeson Memorial Race.

Larisa was the first female rider and never missed a beat all race. Going from strength to strength she is doing some amazing stuff on the bike at the moment.

Showing some sparkling form recently, our very own sponsor and team ride Matthew Opperman has ridden to an awesome 4th place today in the Mt 100 Classic in Mt Gambier.

Ridden in trying conditions, Oppy proves class on a bike is permanent and was a protagonist all day.

Some fantastic news coming out of South Australia over the weekend, our very own team member and sponsor Matthew Opperman finished 7th in the Barry Skinner Classic Handicap in Berri. Oppy was unlucky to get caught within reach of the finish line but held on for a gutsy 7th!!

A great result for one of the good guys of cycling!! Congrats Oppy, well deserved!

Absolutely blown away by the love and support shown at today’s Ride for Wildlife fundraising ride. With people travelling from far and near to participate and help raise funds to assist Carlisle River Wildlife Shelter re-build after the recent bushfires.

18 riders turned up for what was a fantastic 53k’s through the Otway’s. The weather gods smiled on us and the ride set off and arrived at the 1st stop, the Forrest Brewery where many a coffee and vanilla slice were consumed.

We then set off back to Gellibrand via a different route which included the beautiful Lardners Track. Once back in Gellibrand it was lunch time at the Gellibrand River Hotel

Special mention to work Bicycle Centre Warrnambool for supporting me getting this ride from an idea to reality and my team mates Kate, Leesa and Darren and friend Kev Ford for helping out on the day!

It was great to have team sponsor Dion Beaton from Beaton Building Consultancy - Building Surveyors along with his son Hugo and Magdalena from Legenda Cycling (team clothing supplier) along for the ride today.

Huge thanks to everyone who turned up and together we raised nearly $350 for a very deserving recipient.

Time to let the cramps subside and start planning the next one!

Otway's Ride!!!!

As we are all aware the Carlisle River area and Gellibrand area were badly affected by the recent bushfires. With normality slowly returning there are some that are still feeling the effects of the fire and need our help.

The Carlisle River Wildlife Shelter was badly affected by the fires with damage and destruction to some of their infrastructure. The shelter receives no government funding and relies heavily on donations. With lots of wildlife injured or killed in the fires, their services are required more than ever now!!

Many of the local businesses were also impacted by the fires and suffered financially and now more than ever need our help!

As a result the team have organised a day out in the Otway's with guided rides, giveaways and free nutrition goodies for all riders. Even if you can't ride on the day, feel free to go to the trybooking page and donate to a worthy cause. 100% of the money raised will go to the Carlisle River Wildlife Shelter to aid them in re-building and care for displaced and injured wildlife.

All the information and booking links are posted, any questions please feel free to reach out, but if riding some of the best gravel roads in Victoria, visiting local businesses and sampling great food and drink sounds interesting, please join us for the day for a good cause.
