Advanced Notice:
Did you know that of you lined up all the play theorists there have ever been from end to end, they would stretch as far as Jupiter and back.* And you can learn all about them in the next version of ‘A History of Play Theory’ (AHoPT) parts 1, 2 and 3 to be held in November and December this year.
I have been trying to hold a live AHoPT course somewhere in Oz for the last couple of years but I just haven’t been able to make the schedule work. This seems to have annoyed a lot of people!
So, in order to make up for this I’m going to make an online version of the gig available.
BUT … this requires a minimum number of people to make it work. So, if you are interested would you please go and fill in the ‘interest form’ in the link in the comments section where you can also choose which one you would like to do.
The cost will be about $360 including GST for each course and if you do more than one you get a 10%. Payment will not be due until each course has reached its numbers.
What is the gig, I hear you ask? It is a program of six independent courses of five evening-online sessions each (which are also recorded and available for seven days). You can take as many or as few of the courses as you like, and in any order you like (although it is suggested to start with part 1 first as that helps give context to the whole program).
When most of us choose training to attend, conferences to go to, or books to read we tend to stay in our lane and not stray into other theoretical or academic disciplines. When it comes to ‘play’ this is not a great idea because there are a ton of theoretical ideas about play and playing out there that we simply never get to see because we stay in our box.
These courses correct that. As someone making my favourite review ever of these once wrote, “It’s like doing a uni course without actually going to university.”
So, interested? More information on the Marc Armitage website (see link in comments). Hit that form and fill it in for me.
*this is unlikely to be true.
