What a weekend! A huge congratulations to our 5 swimmers who competed at the SA Short Course Championships.

Our Great Southern swimmers always seem to rise to the occasion, and this weekend was no exception. We are incredibly proud of
Sebastian, Magnum, Jackson, Lucas and Briny for their efforts.

Highlights: Dominated across all his events, achieving new personal best times that rival competitors multiple years his senior.

Jackson

Highlights: Huge personal best times, including a 17.91 second time drop in his 200m individual medley, and a 10 second time drop in 100m backstroke.

Magnum
⭐️ 2x Top 5 finalist
5 PBs
Highlights: Powered into both his 100m backstroke for an 8 second time drop, and his 100m butterfly for a 2.5 second time drop.

Lucas

Highlights: Was resolute in his 400m freestyle resulting in a 10 second time drop.

Briny

4 PBs
Highlights: Strong swims for both her 50m freestyle and 100m backstroke events resulting in substantial time drops.

Despite being a small country team of five, they scored enough points collectively for Great Southern as a club to place 10th out of 34 teams.

Another SA & Allcomers record for Seb today, for the 200m freestyle with a time of 2:04.71 What a swim!!

Our swimmers have all put in incredible effort, and are now gearing up for the final session tonight! Go Great Southern ⚡️

Incredible work, Sebastian who represented SA at the 2026 School Sports Swimming Championships in Melbourne.

Swimmimg across 6 individual events and 2 relays in the boys 13-14 years category, Seb secured himself a spot in 5 finals including 50m, 100m, and 200m freestyle, and 50m and 100m backstroke. He achieved 5th place in the 100m freestyle and 7th place in the 50m freestyle, an incredible achievement competing against the top swimmers of his age across Australia.

​On top of those stellar swims, he clocked 4 national qualifying times. While the hard work does reset in October, he is determined to hit those marks again, and it’s a massive confidence boost of what he knows he can achieve.

​Beyond the racing, Sebastian enjoyed the whole experience making new friends on pool deck and taking notes from some of the big guns in the sport. He’s come home full of inspiration and ready to take on the SA Short Course Championships.
