The club was created in 1972 when the Yarra Valley Mountain District formed a junior competition and the Dandenong Ranges Junior Football League was created.

PREMIERS U12’s GIRLS 2023🐯 The Upwey Tecoma Junior Football Club has one of the proudest traditions in the League. It has enjoyed regular premiership success and provided mor

e AFL champions than any other club in the area. The running of the club was handled by the Upwey Tecoma Senior Football Club from 1972 to 1976. Initially the games were played at the senior ground in Chosen Avenue Upwey, known locally as “the Dome” however the club took a big step in relocating to the Talaskia ground around 1976. The Talaskia Clubrooms were officially opened by Yarra Ranges Councillor Peter Marke in 1978. The club tasted instant premiership success with the U14 team winning a premiership in 1972 then went on to win back to back to back premierships. Several players from the junior club have gone on to taste success in the AFL. The Adelaide gun midfielder Rory Sloane played his entire junior footy at our club. The coach of Richmond, Damien Hardwick played his junior footy with us too! Other players to taste footy at the highest levels include Geelong’s Jason Snell plus the Kane brothers are currently playing in the SANFL. Additionally several players are currently knocking on the AFL’s door playing in the VFL teams. Several current players in the AFL’s U18 TAC cup played their entire junior footy with Upwey Tecoma Junior Football Club as have many current VFL players. In addition to those mentioned above, our football club has produced some fantastic footballers and we are the main recruiting source for the Upwey Tecoma Senior football club who are the marquis team in the senior league. The young Tigers in the community belong to a club that takes pride in being an active and contributing part of this great Community. The club has a long respected position in the community and it is a fantastic safe, family friendly environment based around the development and encouragement of children playing a game they love. safe and encouraging environment for junior footballers to learn and develop in the game they love. We are a family focused club and have a history of great mateship and sucess.

In Round 9 21st June, we're going 𝗚𝗥𝗘𝗘𝗡 and kicking goals for youth mental health.

This season our major fundraising round will be dedicated to youth mental health, specifically raising money for 𝗞𝗻𝗼𝘅 𝗛𝗲𝗮𝗱𝘀𝗽𝗮𝗰𝗲.

We had previously advertised our special round for BCNA. However, due to a combination of factors the club feels this is the right time to prioritise youth mental health.

This initiative will also align with our upcoming SALT (Sport and Life Training) mental health sessions, helping reinforce important conversations around wellbeing both on and off the field.

We encourage all players, coaches and families to get behind the round by adding a splash of green to help raise awareness about the importance of looking after ourselves and each other.
