Finding Space

In a world that moves fast and feels full, many people are trying to find even a small sense of calm.

A space to breathe.
A space to slow down.
A space to come back to themselves.

Calm is not something we force — it’s something we learn to return to, even in small moments throughout the day.

Sometimes it’s a slower breath.
Sometimes it’s stepping outside for a moment of stillness.
Sometimes it’s simply noticing, “I am here.”

We don’t always need to escape the world to find space within it.

We just need to keep coming back to it, gently.

The nervous system often speaks through the body before we fully
understand what is happening within us.

Sometimes this can show up as:

~ overthinking
~ difficulty switching off
~ feeling emotionally overwhelmed
~ tension in the body
~ exhaustion while still feeling alert or restless

These can be signs the body is spending long periods in a heightened stress response.

This is why learning to slow down and support the nervous system gently
can be so important.

The Subtle Shifts

When we begin working with the nervous system in simple, consistent ways, the changes are often not immediate or dramatic.

They are subtle.

Over time, you may start to notice:

~ You come back to calm a little quicker.
~ Your breath becomes more natural in moments of stress.
~ Your body holds less tension for as long.
~ You become more aware of your internal state before reacting.
~ There is a small but steady sense of space between trigger and response.

It’s not about becoming someone different.

It’s about slowly returning to yourself more often.

And sometimes, the most important shift is simply noticing — “I am coming back more easily than I used to.”

Healing and nervous system work are not linear, and they are not one-size-fits-all.

There isn’t one practice, one method, or one moment that “fixes” everything.

From my experience — and through both practice and lived work — I’ve come to understand that this process moves in layers.

It can be messy at times.
It can feel like progress, then old patterns again.
It can feel deeply uncomfortable.
And it can also feel liberating and empowering.

This is not because you are doing it wrong — but because the nervous system learns through repetition, experience, and time.

Some days feel open and clear.
Some days feel like you are starting again.

Both are part of the work.

And all of it belongs.

It runs through major organs like the heart, lungs, and digestive system, and plays an important role in how the body responds to stress and returns to calm.

It helps regulate things like heart rate, breathing, digestion, and overall nervous system balance.
It is AMAZING!

This is why, in many moments, the body speaks first — before the mind has time to catch up.

I’ve been working with it for some time now and felt it’s time to explain.

Through yoga, breathwork, meditation, sound healing, and the simple practice of being with myself, body, mind, soul....in everyday life.

Over years of practice and learning, I’ve come to understand how deeply the body holds stress, and how much our experience is shaped by the nervous system’s patterns.

The vagus nerve is a key part of the nervous system that connects the brain to the body and helps regulate heart rate, digestion, and stress response.

It plays an important role in supporting the body’s ability to shift into a calmer, rest-and-recovery state.

This is what led me into exploring the vagus nerve more deeply, and how supporting the body can also influence our sense of mind and emotional balance.

For June, I’ll be focusing more on this work — sharing simple, grounded ways to understand and support the nervous system in everyday life.

Grounding yourself is the gentle act of coming back to who you are beneath the noise.

It’s not about control or fixing everything around you — it’s about returning to yourself in simple ways.

Sometimes that looks like slowing your breath.
Feeling your feet on the ground.
Stepping outside for a moment of fresh air.
Or simply pausing long enough to notice how you actually feel.

You don’t have to do it perfectly — just gently come back, again and again.
