Third year at the Blue Goat Backyard mountain marathons.

Last year and I did this race (hungover) in 40 degrees heat.

Today it was 8 degrees and the rain turned the course into a mud-bath.

I turned up late, missed the start, and didn’t finish.

Needless to say, I’ll be back next year. To me, this race is what trail running is all about.

Post bootcamp sweat-fest penance with Derek. We apologised for our multiple sins.

30/30 40/20 50/10 seconds work / rest ratio:

Lunges
Push-ups
Sliders
Sumo double-scissors
Badger squats
Frog thrusts

1 minute rest between rounds.

10 minute warm-up. 5 minute cool-down.

Good job Derek pulled through, otherwise I’d have no lockdown training partners left.

Today we did this EMOM-type workout with dumbbells for 25 minutes:

Min 1-5 - 20 squats

Min 6-10 12 push-ups

Min 11-15 20 deadlifts

Min 16-20 14 push-press

Min 21-25 20 snatches

Wasn’t very pretty but we tried hard.

Lots of lows, a road to redemption, a Covid scare and a cliffhanger finish.

I asked 's mum if she got to the part about the orgiastic den of iniquity.

She said the only such thing was the "o**y of self-adoration," which seems harsh. But probably true.
