Ever have those nights where you can’t fall asleep, because your to-do list for tomorrow, and the rest of the week is swirling around in your head?
I know I do. Sometimes I have so much going on upstairs that I end up forgetting a small, but very crucial step in my day.. such as taking my wallet or keys as I walk out the door! 🤦🏻♀️
I understand that the more I worry about all the things I have to do, rushing around in the mornings before school, or doing ALL the THINGS before bed time, the more I’ll forget small things because my brain is on overdrive.
I’ve become pretty conscious of this happening lately, and have made it a daily ritual to use a select few essential oils to slow things down so I can focus, and so I can drift off to restful sleep.
Someone told me once that a deep and restful sleep depends on the events and choices of your day.. for example your caffeine intake, the foods you eat close to bed time, water intake, exercise. There are so many factors.
Just a couple of simple changes for me and I’m falling asleep fairly quickly, and not waking during the night! Unless one of my munchkins wakes up! 😅
The simple changes I’ve made are -
✔️ no caffeine after midday
✔️ cut down on sugar, especially in the hours leading up to bed time
✔️ use stimulating essential oils in the AM such as peppermint, citrus oils, eucalyptus
✔️ use calming, relaxing oils in the PM such as lavender, lavender peace, vetiver, cedarwood, balance, peace
✔️ get at least 30 mins exercise in each day, even if it’s just a brisk walk
✔️ increase water intake
